I was reading the article on the wta's site called, "Getting to know Elena Dementieva." I was just reading through some of the questions they were asking her and some were about her celebration for her tournament wins. She did say that after the Bali win she, her mother, Chanda, and Benny Sims all went out to eat. She also talks about Benny trying to teach her how to salsa. I just think it's great to know that 2 players that have just played a final (with one getting slaughtered) can enjoy eachothers company as much as it sounds like they did that night. I wish all the players could be like that.

I CERTAINLY DON'T.
The top players should be competitive, not that friendly, especially after a final... I mean it's different if you are Venus and Serena, cause that is your sister u beat or got beat by. But if I got slaughtered in a final, I wouldn't go out to dinner with the person that beat me, there should be some professionalism. There should be respect, but not fucking dinners if u got beat. Yes, life goes on, but personally, I wouldn't have fun if I got beat in a finaly the very same day. no wonder so many people like Chanda, because she is no threat, her tennis is a threat, she just doesn't have that extra spark that a Serena has, or Hingis had.
Just my opinion, I know everyone is different.

That is why "nice" has no place in sports! Look at Hingis. While she was winning, do you think she was taking her opponents out to dinner or vice-versa? You have to maintain an air of professionalism in competition!

i seldom call other people stupid, but this is at best redicolous. Oddkayla, you said: You have to maintain an air of professionalism in competition!. i hope you are ironic.
What do this players compete in? I suppose it is tennis, and after the last ball is dead, the match is dead, over ,finish, and the player who can´t split tennis from not tennis is definitely not professional.

What cind of life should it be if you travelled the world around thinking, oh i can´t talk, can´t mix with others becaus I might some day gonna play against them. :haha:

If I can find a bookmaker I place my bet there saying thet both oddkayla and Icare4you are wannabe sportstars who never got the point of loving the sport.

You have to stay focused in competition and training, but also be able to switch off in the rest of your time. Elena and Chanda certainly not talked a word about tennis at the dinner ;)
