but if Jelena can get through her first match she will get the chance to play a big player again, and she really needs this experience seeing she never makes it deep enough in draws to do so?...a great preperation for the us if she can make it 2r so go jelena!!

Well at first I was thinking....boy, could Jelena have gotten a more crappy draw than this???

But what you say makes since SM, and I agree, Dokic does need to be playing this tougher opponents. Hopefully this week will be the week when Jelena finally gets a chance to shift to the next gear

she'll beat shaughnessy i think. davenport is a different issue. i just think dokic needs to take a break at some point and re-evaluate where she wants to go. if she was playing a significantly different game i wouldn't say that, but from what i have seen of her lately she is playing essentially the same way, besides the occasional foray into net.

i think next year will be a good year for her.

The outcome will be the same whether she plays Davenport or any other decent player, so it doesnt make much difference. At least its less embarassing to lose to Davenport.
