They'll be using the rankings right after US Open.
These are 20 players who will get VIP treatment in every tournament they play.
They consist of the 16 highest ranked players after US Open with 4 invitations.

So far
1 HENIN-HARDENNE, JUSTINE BEL
2 CLIJSTERS, KIM BEL
3 MAURESMO, AMELIE FRA
4 MYSKINA, ANASTASIA RUS
5 DAVENPORT, LINDSAY USA
6 DEMENTIEVA, ELENA RUS
7 CAPRIATI, JENNIFER USA
8 SHARAPOVA, MARIA RUS
9 KUZNETSOVA, SVETLANA RUS
10 SUGIYAMA, AI JPN
11 SUAREZ, PAOLA ARG
12 PETROVA, NADIA RUS
13 ZVONAREVA, VERA RUS
14 WILLIAMS, SERENA USA
15 WILLIAMS, VENUS USA
16 SCHNYDER, PATTY SUI

Most of the top 15 are sure pick, even Vera was on the 2003 GE list in by invitation before she made 2004 list on her own last year. But even if Patty made it to the 16 this year, she might not make it since she attacked WTA for not inviting her last year after ASV retired. Assuming this is going to be the 16 players on the list, which 4 others would you invite?

Tatiana Golovin
Mary Pierce
Jelena Dokic
Daniella Hantuchova

I would love to see K-Lina or Conchita making it, they dont seem to be popular enough tho.

You're right actually, you have to be at least 17 years old at the time, to be nominated for the Gold Exempt List. It has to do with being able to play enough tournaments --- under the AER --- to fulfill your Gold Exempt List requirements (# of tournament commitments). So Tatiana would be too young to be named for next year, cause she'll still be 16 after the U.S Open.

I also think Sprem, Dokic and Hantuchova will be among the 4 invitations; along with --- if pigs manage to fly by then --- Kournikova. Hey, the WTA can dream, right?
