11 0 Magdalena Maleeva (BUL) 1730 25
12 0 Conchita Martinez (ESP) 1597 22

Points off through Us Open

9 Chanda Rubin 1864
10 Magdelena Maleeva 1650
11 Conchita Martinez 1547
12 Elena Dementieva 1543
13 Daniela Hantuchova 1489 (48 17th)
14 Vera Zvonareva 1473.5
Chanda's Injured, Daniela Might as Well Be
Maleeva doesn't do well at the Open, Neither does Martinez

All Elena and Vera have to do, is net 500 points or so within 4 weeks,
and they're in the top 10.

Sounds difficult?
Not Really

If Elena wins her next match against Mauresmo. Thats another 100 points or so, if she gets to SF of New Haven, thats 200, if she holds seeding at Us Open. She's back in the top 10

If Vera wins her next two matches, which she could and should, thats another 150 or so points. If she holds seeding at the Open, she could be knocking on the door.

Does anyone have a revolver?

good luck to them. 3 russians in the top 10 would be great.

Has Conchita retired? I don't see any mention of her influence on this trend. What if she stays within 70 points of Vera?
