By Richard Pagliaro - Germany gained entry into this week's Fed Cup finals when the two-time defending champion United States withdrew citing concerns over security and safety in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on America. Today, the German Fed Cup team announced it will donate $25,000 to a fund for the families of victims of the September 11th attacks on America.

"With the help of this donation, our team wants to express its solidarity with the victims of the attacks," German Fed Cup captain Markus Schur said.

The donation will be given to a U.S. representative attending the German national championships, December 9-16th. Each nation competing in the eight-team Fed Cup finals receives prize money from the International Tennis Federation, though ITF officials declined to disclose the exact amount of money each country receives.
