I am not a fan of SST and Sabalenka's grunts, by I never think about what will make me happy at my death bed whilst watching them.

Agreed 1000%. Gauff's come ons are all over the place after EVERY SINGLE ERROR from the opponent. Can't stand her.

 

Give her time, she is young. You have to be at least 21 year old to have the sense that C'mons at your opponents UE is lowbrow.

 

She isnt playing that well,Trying very hard to lify herself,and or piss Jil off completely..Abit Annoying,but its better than hearing ridiculous screams,and grunts from Azarenka,Sabalenka,need i go on.lol

I think a lot of people on here are concerned that she actually might be pretty good.

 

She's a very good player but.., serena, venus, hinges, capriati and seles were all much better players at that age so She's not that great as a phenom as those players.

Seriously? People actually defend this spoilt brat? A ton of young players have amazing sportsmanship.

 

I can't wait until next month when she turns 17, and then the whole "oh but she is only 15/16 and already
in the top 100" no longer becomes special. There has been enough 17 years old in the top 100 the past few years to compare to.

 

I thought someone told Coco to cut down on her C'mons during Abu Dhabi but then I guess she forgot about it during the quarantine...

A “c’mon” here and there doesn’t bother me. But Gauff doing it after every point she wins (even those that shouldn’t warrant a huge celebration) makes it difficult for me to support her. In fact, it makes it hard to even sit through one of her matches.

 

Unpopular opinion but yelling c'mon after your opponent makes an error shouldn't matter. If you don't want your opponent to do that, then don't make errors, and if it actually bothers you, then that's on you, not your opponent. I guess if people find that annoying that's fine, but I really don't think it's poor sportsmanship, at worst it's just a tactic, but in Gauff's case she's clearly just trying to get herself pumped up in big moments. It's not a Collins roar-in-the-opponents'-face come-on, which is clearly worse sportsmanship (but still doesn't bug me, frankly).

I don’t like the come on s either but she is a kid. Give her a break. She needs it to give her the fighting spirit and to pep her up. We see this all the time by many others. I hope she stops with that. But i find the loud screamers and grunts more annoying. I really hate that and I see never a topic about that 🙄

 

That's what I said too. She is young! She wouldn't know the difference between good and bad behaviour at this stage. Wait until she is old enough to be a US president at least.

Gauff is fun to watch, but the incessant gamesmanship just makes me want to root for her opponent.

I see more fizzle than sizzle in her future. A first round 500 tournament match should not be turned into a life or death encounter.

 

Well, yeah. She's not an elite player.

I can see her winning a lot of doubles Slams with the right partner. 0 in singles.
