Comfortable win for Dabrowski and Riske in the first round of the US Open. Riske had a disappointing singles tournament, losing a one-sided match to Li. Perhaps she will be extra motivated. They play top seeds Babos-Mladenovic in the next round.

They may not be playing the top seeds today, as the match has been taken off today's schedule. Stephanie Myles says Mladenovic/Babos have been "pulled out." Mladenovic has been in a bubble within the bubble of the US Open after contact with Benoit Paire who had to withdraw before the tournament started due to testing positive for covid-19.

The US Open Draw page has not been updated yet, but if Gaby/Riske are into the QF with Mladenovic's withdrawal, they will be playing Muhammad/Townsend.

Mladenovic lost in the singles after being up 6-1, 5-1 and 6-1, 5-2 (40-0). She ended up losing 6-0 in the third. I can't help but wonder if that's related. At any rate, Dabrowski and Riske have a winnable quarterfinal against Townsend and Muhammad.
