Maria arrives in Shanghai
Maria Sharapova arriving in Shanghai to a crowd of 3,000 fans awaiting to see the new beauty on the tour.
Maria has arrived in Shanghai today, she got to the airport at 8.30 in the evening local time. Maria flew from Detroit to Tokyo and then finally to Shanghai.
Maria Sharapova played in Bali last week and unfortunately lost in the early rounds once again.
This week Maria is playing both singles and doubles and in the first round og singles she plays Jelena Dokic.
"I dont think I have played her before, shes a very good consistent player on the tour and it will be hard for me to beat her with the form ive been having lately."
Despite the early round loses last week in Bali for both the singles and doubles events Maria is still feeling confident about the way shes playing and hopes to do better this week.
"Last week was good, it was badluck for me to lose that match against that asian girl, and in the doubles well what can I say? Petra Mandula cant play for peanuts

Maria this week has entered the tournament in doubles with
Mary Pierce.
"Yes, this will be a great week for me in doubles, I dont play doubles to often because im not to good at it, but hopefully I can go well this week with Mary..... Shes umm a really fine lady."
This is Maria first appearance in this tournament and shes already attracting a big group of fans that want to see her go to the very top of the tour and win those big titles. Unfortunately her first season on the tour has been relatively good as shes the best ranked newcomer by far, but ever since Wimbledon its been all down hill for this young sexc, lanky great playing russian.
"Well im not fazed at all, since Wimbledon Ive goen through some major changes in my game and I just havent found the right combination yet, but its coming along very well and Drew makes me soo proud. My fans are just WOW {laugh} I cant describe it, they are really amazing... I have soo many people supporting me in these tournaments, I just feel like im playing a home country tournament as they are that great to me.
