<font face="Arial Black" color="#99CC00" size="5">Schett joins the field in Key Biscayne</font>

German's Barbara Schett was the last one to arrive in Key Biscayne, FL, USA, on the Lufthansa 8888 flight which left from Munich and arrived in Miami earlier today. Barbara Schett was born in Austria but last week she switched to Germany due to personal reasons.

Schett's last tournament was the Wimbledon Championships where she lost in the 2nd round against 2nd seed Saori Obata on a three-setter.

On a fast interview at the VIP Lounge of the Miami's International Airport, Schett stated:<br />"I'm very excited to debut here. Miami is an amazing city! I love Miami Beach, specially the Ocean Drive atmosphere. It's cool!"

"As for the tournament, I want to do well here and I think I have a great chance. I was playing very well at Wimbledon, but then I faced Saori right on the second round and even though I played well, she was superior to me and won. Here I will face Francesca Schiavone in the first round and I think we can make a very tough match. I've improved my self-esteem on court and I definitely feel better playing. I think this is the main thing on tennis."

<font color="#00D900" size="6" face="Haettenschweiler">Schett<br />dumps Schiavone in Key Biscayne</font>

<font color="#FFFFFF" size="3" face="Arial Narrow">Germany's Barbara Schett survived a scare on the second set to defeat Italy's Francesca Schiavone on a weird 7-6(8), 0-6 6-0.

Both players started the match alternating winners and unforced errors until Schiavone cut down her errors and opened a 5-3 lead. Schett battled the deficit and tied the set 5-5 and the set went later to a tie-breaker. Schett again rallied 2-5 on the tiebreaker to eventually close it 8-6.

Instead of growing in the match, Schett suddenly got out of focus and disappeared on the second set, which Schiavone breezed 6-0 in only 16 minutes.

Schett, showing a comeback power, re-started to fire winners on both sides and sealed the victory winning the third set 6-0 and the match.

"The conditions were very tough today. There was a lot of wind and the weather was very hot. Hopefully I managed to play my game and win. It wasn't the best start but at least I won and I hope to do a better match on Wednesday."

Barbara Schett will face Patty Schnyder, the 4th seed from Switzerland who defeated Evie Dominikovic 6-0 6-4.<br /></font>

kimiko has great confidence on their team. She told the press that teaming up with Serena is her honor. Serena's power shot is unbeatable on tour! <img src="graemlins/bounce.gif" border="0" alt="[Bounce]" />
