Draw Notes:
Having no exact draws for the doubles and mixed means those draws are not in exact draw order.
Betsy Abbas of Egypt is also listed as from France in some sources. She may have had dual citizenship.
Mme Grandguillot formerly Bucaille.
Alicia Heegewaldt (Chile) is also listed as Alice.
RG incorrectly lists Gwyn Thomas losing to #11 seed Hopps. In fact it was Dawn Thomas.
Missing Names
M. Borriche probably=Maisy Borriche, but it came from the NYT and the print was hard to read, so treat this name with caution.
Mrs J. A. Lawrence of Great Britain
Missing Male Names
Huet
Verdier

Summary:
Truman wins the French just 3 years after compatriot Angela Mortimer. Christine's big breakthrough came in the semis vs Sandra Reynolds, who had beaten her in Rome. Early on the South African cultivated a lead, as she "exploited slow, mid court shots with initially telling effect. Miss Truman had to yield the first set and trailed by 4-5, with Miss Reynolds serving. The South African, however, could not sustain the advantage in the face of her own growing exhaustion." (Dawson's p.125).
Defending champ Kormoczy demolished all in her way as she glided into the final. A teenager of merely 18 vs the 34 year old made for a contrast, accentuated by Truman's penchant to whack big forehands and come in to volley away floaters for winners. At 6-4 5-3 Truman was on the cusp of victory, but the wily vet changed tactics and took two straight games by volleying repeatedly, a strategy tried out of desperation. At 5 all though Truman blew hot again and the final break secured victory.
