Re: FITD WTA Finals Singapura ☾✫ Last roar in the Lion City!

GUIDELINES

1. The format of the YEC finals in Singapore differs from all other tournaments earlier in the year. Singapore is a Round Robin (RR), therefore the Top 8 WTA women are placed into two groups (usually Group A and Group B). Each player will play a best-of-three match (BO3) and will have to play everyone in their group once in the group stages. After everyone plays everyone in their group, the top 2 from each group move onto the semifinals. In the semifinals, the best record from Group A will play the 2nd best record from Group B and the best record from Group B will play the 2nd best from Group A. The winners of those semifinals matches play in the finals for the WTA YEC trophy.

2. This event is only by invitation. You may only participate if you are in the Top 16 in the FITD Race or if you are 17-20 as an ALT in case someone misses their picks. If you are an ALT, the only way you can get in is if someone in the Top 16 doesn't post predictions. Highest ranked in race gets priority over lowest ranked ALTs. If you are unsure of where you stand in the race, please refer to Post #5 below. In the event that an alternate replaces an original qualifier in the game, he/she can no longer join the second-tier finals in Zhuhai.

3. When you submit your picks make sure you predict ALL of the RR matches. This will ensure you earn all the points possible. When you make your picks, you should write 'Player A def. Player B' or vice versa. The score isn't necessary. Please avoid the use of smilies or other unnecessary characters in your predictions. Please post Group A predictions first, then Group B because it will be more convenient for me (the manager) to enter all the predictions into my custom-made spreadsheet.

4. You must post your full prediction before the first ball of the first main draw match is struck. Any draw posted after that will not be counted.

5. Unless otherwise specified, please post with players' surname (last name) only. Nicknames are not allowed. Please kindly use the draw provided by the manager to avoid typos.

6. Picks could only be re-submitted if a player withdraws after you have made your original prediction. You are only allowed to re-submit your draw once. You are not allowed to re-submit again and again even if another player subsequently withdraws. DO NOT EDIT your post when re-submitting your draw. Please submit it through a new post and quote your original post/prediction. Any edited post will NOT be counted.

7. Please keep your picks as your own and DO NOT copy and paste other poster's picks. If you do this this will be taken as cheating and your picks will not be counted.

8. Scoring is based on the point system on Post #3: for each player you predict correctly into the next round, you receive the points for reaching that round. Walkover also counts as a normal win.

9. If an alternate or lucky loser replaces a player in the draw after MD has started, the match position will be replaced by the alternate or lucky loser but points will only by awarded for the original picks where the opponent against the alternate or lucky loser nets a win.

10. Here is a sample of an entry last year in case you are new to this format:

Re: FITD WTA Finals Singapura ☾✫ Last roar in the Lion City!

MANAGER'S RANDOM RAMBLINGS

1. Again, only the Top 16 (plus Top 17-20 as alts) in the Race can participate in this game. However, non-qualifiers are, of course, welcome to post their thoughts and well-wishes in this thread. We need ratings and crowd of spectators as well. :eek:h:

2. Qualifiers (and alternates) will all be notified through tagging and PM. After that, you're on your own. :nerner: You have no excuse to miss this other than your own doing. If you still fail to submit your draw, I'll gladly hand your spot to the next alternate who, I'm sure, will be excited to vulture those free 95 points minimum and have a shot at the title. :bigwave:

3. Since this is a different format, I strongly advise every player, especially the YEC debutantes, to study and review your entry before posting. If in doubt, feel free to ask questions. Remember, you can only submit once, unless there's a withdrawal, for which you're allowed to submit again once at maximum.

4. I have the same timezone as Singapore, so I will do my best to post the updates as quickly as possible. Check this link for the current local time --> Current Local Time in Singapore

5. I notice that this happens like every year. But this is not the thread for airing your grievances over the format and scoring rules of the game. As much as I personally concur with the opinion that some aspects of the Finals have flaws, I can only do so much. If you've got any ideas on how to improve the Year-End Championships or FITD as a whole, you are more than welcome to post them here: 2019 FITD Suggestions Thread

6. This is my 22nd FITD management (between TF and MTF) and 1st time running a round-robin format. If I have mistakes, don't hesitate to PM me.

Best of luck everyone! :wavey:

Your manager,

RJ / aerosmash
