Bassino - Brignone 1-2 after the top 20. Seems like only Vlhova can stop this Italian giant slalom party. This is a giant slalom nonsense indeed.

Elena Curtoni steals the win with #28. Bassino and Brignone complete the Italian sweep. Shiffrin 4th and Breezy Johnson 5th as the best speed speciallist.

I can only imagine how will the SG course look tomorrow after this crap.

Bansko takes the cake for the most hideous DH track ever. Four technical speciallists were in Top 6 yesterday with DH PBs for Bassino & Vlhova and today it looks like Bassino might get a DH podium! She's 4 secs. quicker than Nicol Delago! This is a disgusting SG/GS course masquerading as downhill.
DH on the women's side are way too easy and boring!! It's a welcome change!! I want more downhill like Bansko, Rosa Khutor, La Thuile, Bad Kleinkirchen, Altenmark, St Ankton, Garmish. The Lake Louise, Val d'Isere, Cortina are just boring as fuck.

As soon as the difficulty increases, Austrian girls become so so so mediocre. They are everywhere, plenty in the top20 but they ain't shit! Veith is not what she used to be (I loved the way she skied). Now you have stale, boring, no charisma having girls leading the charge. They really benefit from the decline or retirement of the Maze, Vonn Riesch, Veith, Gut, Weirather. Ugh, can't stand them.

In tech also, they struggle to make the podium.

I don't know what's happening in Austria but they need to upgrade their training methods cause it ain't it!!

Shiffrin is as much of a "speed giant" than most of the mediocre girls only racing DH and SG (cue, the Austrian who are inconsistent and mediocre all around). None of these girls except for Gut has more than 3 DH wins, none. Shiffrin has one with much fewer starts.

Love Mayer, my favorite speed specialist with Kriechmayer and Paris, too bad he is so inconsistent.

However, the Austrian "broadcaster" was shit, showing Mayer and the crowd's reaction for way too long, as a consequence we only saw 30 seconds of France's Muzaton who ended up 5th! That's some BS.

Right, then we just have 4 technical events and that's it. Bad Kleinkirchheim was bad but Bansko just took this to another bullshit level. Why do we bother with naming these events anyway? This is the death of downhill as we know it. And to think just few years ago Lindsey Vonn wanted to start in Kitzbuehel. Now we have GS girls like Bassino beating DH speciallists by 3 or 4 seconds and this is how the sport should look like? If downhills look like giant slaloms like in Bansko then I'm gonna stop watching this sport very soon indeed.

Veith has lost all the fire following the injuries, so did Lara Gut to a great degree. They're just also runs who can spring a Top 5 once every 8-10 races.

More difficult downhills will force the "specialists" to improve! Seeing the likes of Mirjam Pushner and Ramona Siebenhofer who struggle to make any turn winning downhills is dishearting.

The women downhillers got weaker! The former great leading downhiller would have handled it (Tina Maze, Lindsey Vonn, Maria Riesch). They could win difficult and easy downhills. And it was much funnier to watch.

You got a girl like Ilka Stuhec double world champ who is dreadful as soon as the difficulty increase. This is not what I want SMH.

I'm positive Shiffrin could win the globe easily if she races the full season.

The all-arounders are clearly dwindling, Gut and Fenninger were supposed to be the next Vonn vs Riesch but the injuries got the better of them. It's funny how people only want technical downhills for women while big men like Paris never get criticized on the men's side. I wonder why that is? I mean he is as big as Siebenhofer or Nadja Kamer before. And nobody cares he can't be any good in technical races.

Ika Stuhec still used the Tina Maze line of skis that gave her the extra edge and now apparently she has a mental block over her injuries so she's heading down the Anna Veith path.

If Marta Bassino beats downhillers by 3 seconds in a downhill there's something clearly wrong with the course. Bansko wasn't a downhill but a giant slalom.

Paris is the king of Bormio and Kitzbuhel which are the most technical downhills on the tour!
Moreover, he can also win is Super G.
I see no comparison to be made.

Gut is lucky that she won the all around, always been inconsistent and kind of mental midgety.

And if Bassino beats the DHer, there's something wrong with them, not the other way around! The DHer are not racing GS and this is why they are so mediocre.

I stand by what I said : the women DH are stale as fuck and this need to change. We will agree to disagree.

Dominik Paris - the king of technical downhills. Haven't heard so much crap before. Then why doesn't he compete in giant slaloms to boost his overall chances?

Well, enjoy 16 giant slaloms in the season then! Hopefully Lake Louise will be the thorn in your side as long as possible ;)

Shiffrin's passed died this past monday (he allegedly fell from the roof of his home while he was taking the snow off). Poor girl. I wonder how she's gonna ski after this tragedy.

Because Saalbach is all old school downhill with zero technical sections! Mikulescu wants downhills that look like Super G or Giant Slaloms! ;-)

Dare I say I enjoyed that course very much! :)

It's because of the snow and the shortened race because the DH in 2015 was extremely tough and exciting!
