Marta Bassino wins her first World Cup race! She led after the 1st run and quite frankly I expected her to choke that away  Brignone 2nd, Shiffrin 3rd.

Veith & Liensberger didn't even make the 2nd run so the Austrian dire spell continues. Brem in 16th was their best.

Shiffrin leads by 1,13 ahead of Vlhova

Brignone 11th but 3,41 behind :tape:

The 2nd run cut off could be ca. 6 seconds difference :haha:

It's not like she'd have entered the DH so why make the trip for the SG even if healthy?

Btw, Shiffrin won by 2,29. That's victory #62 which ties her with Moser-Proell.

Schmidhofer won the second DH ahead of Shiffrin and Marsaglia (first WC podium in 182 starts!). Ledecka 4th!

Kajsa Vickhoff Lie threw away a potential Top 6 finish while the fallen cometh Lara Gut managed to lose to two Russian skiers ?

Shiffrin will skip the speed races in Val d'Isere after that lowly 17th place in Courchevel GS.

can we all skip Val d'Isère weekend FOREVER?
That OK slope is horrendous, weather is often shitty. Why go there? XD

France has nothing beyond Val d'Isere and Courchevel on the schedule. The Megeve & Meribel slaloms have faded away from the list for whatever reason. Imagine such a drought for a country in the Alps. The only logical replacement would be Chamonix but it's been MIA for a while too.

not that Italy has much more, for example

but if they don't have anything else it's their problem, they could come up with something more catching than that awful place. It causes problem every year, to men's circuit and/or women's. At least men's races are nice there (cause they are in another slope luckily)

Cortina, Bormio, Val Gardena, Alta Badia & Madonna are on the schedule since like forever not to mention one-offs like La Thuile or Kronplatz so Italy is just about as filled as Austria on the schedule - can't complain about that. Other than Sestriere dropping off some time ago I wouldn't say Italy is doing bad on the FIS schedule.

French women team is basically dead besides Worley and with Pinturault and Noel leading the charge I'd expect some technical venues on the men's side to boost that opportunity.

Vlhova wins the Zagreb slalom, Shiffrin 2nd.

Liensberger was 3,49 secs, off but still managed to finish 3rd.

Anyone watching GS in Adelboden?
Two Italians in lead after frst run!
Borsotti with start number 53 in second place with just 0,04 second behind his team fellow De Aliprandini.
I always enjoy races in Adelbolden, great slope and great atmosphere.

Bansko takes the cake for the most hideous DH track ever. Four technical speciallists were in Top 6 yesterday with DH PBs for Bassino & Vlhova and today it looks like Bassino might get a DH podium! She's 4 secs. quicker than Nicol Delago! This is a disgusting SG/GS course masquerading as downhill.
