... we have only 1 out of 4 semi-finalists that's a former GS Champion. It's of course Serena Williams and the last time that happened was Steffi Graf in 1990 who was the only former GS Champion amongst the semi-finalists: Novotna, Seles and Capriati.

Useless fact or is it a sign that the top former GS champions are being quickly swept aside?

This was also the "beginning of the last" so to speak for Graf, as Seles won the next 8 out of 12 slams from that point. Will history repeat itself for Serena?

wow... I thought about it but didn't really THINK about it. mind-blowing... GO SERENA, HOLD IT DOWN FOR THE FORMER GRAND SLAM CHAMPIONS! :p

Yes, I hope so, because in that case Kim will win the next 8 out of 12 slams. ;)
