Lindsay Sarile of the Philippines reacts during her second round match against Caroline Whitten at the Porsche Grand Prix in Filderstadt, Germany. Sarile survived 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 and will next Tiffani Eggert of Belgium in the quarterfinals.

"Caroline really pummelled me in the second set. She is quite the veteran and is very good at turning things around. It fortunate that I was serving well in the third and she was making errors. Good match nonetheless."

"Tiffani is very crafty. She won Survivor this year and knows how to play on an opponent's weakness. It will be tough definitely."

In doubles play, Sarile and partner Eva Sorrenta were upset by the talented team of Diana Mahler and Rachel Ann Fleischmann.

"That was quite unfortunate for us. I was really looking forward to playing with Zorra and I guess Diana and Rachel were better today. Good play."

Graf enters quaterfinal - Mahler/Fleischmann in semis

Sabine Graf, who lost several first round matches in a row got a WC for the maindraw. She won her first round match against Russian top player Krouklikova in three tiebreak sets. It was a fight on Centre Court and the crowd helped Graf to get in the next round. In the second round there was a match against one of Graf's best friends on tour Wong. Wong, who is an excellent singles and doubles player showed a wonderful performance in the second set. At the end Graf was lucky to get the first break and served it out. This tournament is one of Graf's highlights in 2003. The German, who had the second position in rankings fall out of the top 30 this week. Hopefully this victories will get her back in the top 20 soon.

Later in doubles, the young team Diana Mahler and Rachel-Anne Fleischmann defeated the 4th seeded team Sarile/Sorrenta in an extremely close match and will now face the German Selima Valentine and her partner Larissa Liashenko from Belarus.
