That's what Richard Williams did with his daughters, though.

One of the rare occasions where Roger is blatantly wrong. Mister Federer: We don't need another Capriati flameout and easy for you to say this because at that time you were making first big moves at GS Level. You don't know what happened to Jenny from 1992 to 2004.

To change the rule for one Capriati????? Why not change it for Gauff?

Gauff can play as many junior tournaments as she wants...
Nobody cares about junior tournaments. If you are good enough to play on the big stage even with 12 - why not?

What a surprise. So transparent from Federer. How greedy one can be ? He's already rich and he pushed for a new rules cause he's making money on her back. Disgusting. He never cared about that rule for the last 20 years.

We'll see what kind of money she'll bring when her body is done by the age of 19, you know. Like Robson, Szavay, Konjuh, Vaidisova, Paszek, Golovin and all. All those young hopes that proved to last in time. Or the already forgotten CC Bellis in recent times.

They did it to protect kids who have crazy parents. Its hard to do it on a case by case basis
There are some real crazy dads who want their kids to earn money
The few who are phenoms young will get endorsements before they make prize money. Its the others that need to be protected

If you read Pete Bodo's book, he mentioned Kournikova, who was only 11 years old then. Her mom Alla was in manhattan talking to sponsors. Bodo put that in his book.
Thats the game on the teen and preteen level. TO GET KNOWN, so you get endorsements
parents would be rushing their kids constantly to get in draws hoping the veterans would choke

But for Gauff, she has money and she doesnt need to play the full tour to develop her game

The only Reason he now came out of the woodwork criticizing that Rule as I said below is because Gauff is managed by Team8 and his longtime Agent Tony Godsick.

She's going to be able to play than more a full schedule next year when she turns 16 (14 tournaments, plus the 4 Slams she'll be able to get into directly on her own ranking), so I don't understand what the fuss is about. Barty is #1 in the world with 16 tournaments, Osaka is #2 with 18, so the idea that Gauff is being held back in some way doesn't hold up.

The rest of this season might be a bit awkward because she's too good for juniors and limited to seven events until March, but is it really the worst thing for a 15-year-old to sit out a few months off to develop her game and spend time with friends? Gauff herself has even said she wouldn't play as many tournaments as most pros right now even if the AER were lifted.

He shows once again he knows what he's talking about.

If 15 is enough to have sex and get drunk, it probably is enough to play a sport. I'm tired of the AER and the overprotecting of alleged fragile and helpless "children". One thing is abusing them and a very different one is letting them live the lives they want to.

Maybe the rule is a bit too tight, specialy above 15, but I hate when parents want to make profits out of their childrens at young age, the rule is also made for those cases

Gosh, is Coco doing that?

Capriati I could believe.
