<font size=5>2001 ETA Ladies Kremlin Cup<font=size><font size=2><font=size>

The ETA Tour descends on Moscow, Russia, for the second Tier I of the season. The Ladies Kremlin Cup will be held in the Olympic Stadium on Supreme Indoors surface. The tournament features a $1.22 million dollar purse, and valuable rankings points heading into the season ending Sanex Championships in Munich. Defending champion, Martina Hingis, has arrived already and has started practicing for the first indoor event on the ETA tour.

The Russian fans will be happy to know that there are four Russians in the draw, Anna Kournikova, Natasha Zvereva, Elena Dementieva, and Anastasia Myskina. Wildcards went to Swedish No. 1 Asa Carlsson, Czech No. 2 Daja Bedanova, and veteran champion Pam Shriver.

This prestigious event will feature a 28 player draw, with the top 4 seeds receiving byes. The winner of this event will be almost guarenteed a spot into the prestigious 16 player season finale. With only one Tier I left after this event, its crunch time. Either win or go home. <br /> <br />

<font size=5>2001 ETA AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships<font=size><font size=2><font=size>

For 16 players on the ETA Tour, they will remain in Tokyo, Japan, to compete in the Tier III AIG Japan Open Tennis Championships held at Ariake Colisseum. This marks the first two tournament week of the ETA Tour. The hardcourt outdoor event will offer a purse of $170,000. With all non-tournament winners, someone will leave Japan with their first singles title.

There is no defending champion in the draw as the 2000 champion Julie Halard Decugis and 2000 finalist Amy Fraizer are not entered into the event. Top seed Mary Pierce will lead a pack of hungry players who are looking to make their mark on the ETA Tour.

<font size=5><font color=aqua>New Players Burst onto Scene, Hantuchova Changes Nationality<font=color><font=size><font color=white><font=color><font size=2><font=size>

Seven players will make their debut this week. Asa Carlsson of Sweden, Arancha Parra of Spain, Alexandra Stevenson of the USA, Natasha Zvereva of Russia will make their singles debut at the Tier I Ladies Kremlin Cup in Moscow. The other three players, Kimiko Date of Japan, Amanda Coetzer of South Africa, and Meghann Shaughnessy of the USA.

Meanwhile Daniela Hantuchova has now switched her nationality to Australian. The young serve and volleyer sited that it was only natural for her to play for Australia since she has lived in that country since she was 11 and resides there. Hantuchova was heard as saying that she's excited to represent Australia and will look forward to bringing Aussie tennis to a level never seen before.
