Here is a suggestion.

For each tournament there could be a limited number of players that can play and there could be qualifying. The qualifying would not be any different, day 1 matches could be qualifying. Heres an example.

Say Antwerp had 60 people sign up. Whatever the size of the draw is, could be the # of direct entries. So there is 32 direct entries and 28 other players. The 28 other players could do qualifying, which would be day one matches. Divide the draw size by 4, 32/4 = 8, and that is how many players get in from qualies. So there would be 40 players playing day 2. The top 16 move on to day 3 into the draw. Day 4 would be 8 players left in the draw. Quarterfinals would be 4 players, semifinals and finals would still be 1. This would make it more realistic to the WTA Tour. This is just a suggestion and it only makes top players pick one less day of picks.

I could do entry lists if no one would and set up the direct entries and qualifying lists. ALSO, no one would be neglected from playing a tournament, so the size of qualifying could be anything.

This probably shouldnt be in effect for slams. This is just a suggestion and I wanted to see what people thought.

Sounds like a good idea - it becomes more realistic as lower ranked (and new) players would have to earn their way up the rankings

I don't really get your idea Matt, so you would say there will be 4 bracket in qualifying round? and 2 best players from each bracket will play in the Main Draw?

How about if we keep playing knock out system in the whole tournament. we cut Main Draw only for 28 players (Draw 32), then for qualifying we do knock out system but only in one day.. so we do 3 rounds (if there are 32 players in qualification) with only one day picks.. what do you think?

As you said in the Paris TT thread Matt this could be applied in Antwerp, but what about like having 26 or something players qualifying directly, others pick on day one and top 6 qualify for day 2 and from then on it's the knock-out system.

Well we could have 8 seeds and others are drawn randomly or something.

I think there should be more qualy spots open like 6 or 8 since there are more players coming through there.

But your saying 28 players get direct entries, then the rest play qualifying on day 1. The 4 best get into the draw and the draw begins day 2. Is this right?

There I play against the best from another pairing and the same result is taken into account, the 10. And so for 3 rounds, with the winners going through. I hope that made some sense

Sounds great! In a 32 person draw though, how many players get direct entries, WCs (for local players I guess), and qualy spots?

also Commitments should close either the Thursday or Friday before the tournament begins so players know who plays qualifying and so final entry lists can be made.
