Be interesting to see what they do with the wildcards this year. Most years that I can remember, 2011-2017, they'd only give 1 or 2 of their 8 main draw wildcards to American players and the rest would go to young, often 'marketable' girls from all over the world, presumably with an IMG link, but last year it was the standard 6 home players and a big name in Vika, like you'd expect in most tournaments.

well this year they have a lot of up and coming young players to give WCs to, like Kostyuk, Danilovic, Swiatek, Potapova, Juvan, the Wangs

Depends on who has links to IMG and who is "marketable" at this point

Danilovic is with StarWing last I checked, so no WC for her probably

Zhuk, Badosa, Haddad-Maia and Vikhylantseva have all come off well here in the past,as has Alja T, but she wouldn't require one this year. Liu and Osuigwe both got one last year so would be in contention, Amanda A did as well, but also wouldn't require one here.

Wang Xiyu and Boulter got QWCs last year, Boulter wouldn't need one of those this year. McNally could, and probably should, be in contention as well.
