I got laughed to my face when telling this ½ year ago. So new try

Russians are coming, all have seen them but those in bunkers haven´t realized big picture. U.S. has dominated womens tennis for ... well about as long as can remember. Time has come to change all that (from what movie is that... ?)

No 1 & 2 guns namely pair of Williamse´s are struggling to be fit for 10+ tournamets/year. Wonder why... Old guns Seles,Davenport,Capriati are done. Well in couple years anyway. That leaves U.S. hopes to shoulders of .......hmmmm.......... Harkleroad ? Shaughnessy........ ? In other words U.S.T.A. is dead on womens side ?

I know that is very hard to accept, specially those on other side of pond, BUT... (I might have a point)

U gotta point and it aint that hard to accept cuz the European girls was dominatin until bout 5 years ago. Remember boo Miss Lindsay was the first player born in the States to win a Slam when she won the US Open in '98. In '97 Queen Vee was the first American born player to be in a Slam final since Miss Zina in '90. So us not dominatin aint nothin new to us.

Let the Russian girls bring it. I'll be given snaps to them especially my girl Miss Nadia.

Ummm, Hingis dominated for couple years, Graf and Seles were pretty equal (Ok both european) before them Evart-Navratilova were in slam finals every year... hmm. actually there is only one american born in those so maybe I deserve to be laughed at :lol:

Uh huh all of the 90s until Miss Lindsay was European girls. Besides who u said u can add Miss Arancha. Miss Conchi, Miss Jana and Miss Iva won Slams. Miss Mary play for France won 2 Slams. The 90's was all bout Europe. Even after Miss Lindsay final broke the streak Miss Marti and Miss Steffi won Slams in '99.

Well in golf they have Ryder Cup so why can´t compare U.S. and Yurop in tennis too ? (You yanks are so damn good that one or two little countries can´t compete alone...)

Here's the problem though, Informative - ironically considering your username, at present you are 0-288 lifetime in interesting and original posts on this board. In 2008 Maria Sharapova will be no. 1 from the US (I think she will immigrate). But actually, he has a point. The sistas have indicated to me at least that they aren't going to play beyond 26 or 27 (maybe earlier for Venus), which puts us at about a 2006 retirement for Venus, and a 2008/2009 retirement for Serena. As for the up and comers, Shaughnessy will likely be a top ten player if you ask me (once she gets her head together), but I don't see her as a slam winner. Gullickson is probably the most talented teenager, which is really REALLY scary. So as an american, I am not laughing at you, I agree you have a point.

it could be the start. in a few more years it will be over. when lindsay, monic and jen are gone. unless stevenson somehow picks up her game and plays well consistently and shaughnessy also improves and maybe a junior like gullickson or someone like harkleroad picks things up.

imo russians will be replacing these top players. they are the only ones i see that have that potential at the moment (there are a couple of juniors that are like 14 that i think can do it though - krajicek, kleybanova and vaidisova). i'm persoanlly hoping that kaia kanepi can get into the top 10 she had such a great junior career at such a young age but i know that's a bit unrealistic looking at where she is now.

Have to disagree with those two. Specially Strycova, she ain´t that good. Played in juniors too long so got a career high in there. Better than Salerni (former no: 1 too) but still way off the best. Maybe "Coetzer" of the future. Best I see her reach is one or two slam semis/QFs and that is that. (Sorry Barbora fans)

And no 1 pick looks good to me. Although "old" russians or JH-H / Kim might have a good grip of that (don´t mension Kuznetsova, I got a way with it, once)
