It does, but the players need to get used to moving and sliding on clay, especially if your not used to it and from a country that does not play much clay,

Emma is brought up on hard court and grass.
But that's the point, it doesn't play like yer normal clay court, not much sliding going on with the ball whizzing past you! so prepping on a hc is just as good.

As a well-known Raducanu critic I totally support this move. Let the peasants handle BJK qualies, her marketing status is clearly above the Swans & Boulters of the WTA :lol2:

Never understood why this is played every year.
Make it an every 4 year thing like the Olympics or World Cup... add some prestige to winning or participating in it.
Right now it's just an inconvenience to most players getting in the way of the regular tour.
Even more inconvenient-seeming with the name change

Sounds like a honest mistake. She’s an endorsement queen like Sharapova, so she probably doesn’t check her email or hang out with her hoi polloi countrywomen. :oh:
Max Eisenbud likely intercepts every single mail (of any kind, electronic or physical) before it ever gets to Emma. Understandably for her own alleged benefit.

But then such arrangements can easily lead to things that Max alone doesn't like (meaning stand in the way of his priorities), such as Fed cup invitations from Keotavong, to be quietly chucked into the trash bin without Emma ever hearing any word of it.

BJK exhibition.
The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The name was changed to the Fed Cup in 1995, and changed again in September 2020 in honor of former World No. 1 Billie Jean King. The Billie Jean King Cup is the world's largest annual women's international team sports competition in terms of the number of nations that compete.

I would like to get into the team for the Billie Jean King Cup or be nominated for the Olympics, which will be held in Paris next year. My parents have reminded me of it a few times already. (her dream has just come true :))

Mediocre players will always put it higher in importance, since when they play in it it's actually one of the high-points of their careers, unlike premium players like Emma, Murray, Nadal, Djokovic etc. That's not to say premium players don't like playing in it, but when fitness issues arise, their goals are ultimately to get to the top of the sport and that will always take precedence. Which makes sense not just personally for them, but also for their nations. People know when Djokovic wins Wimbledon (and see those Serbian flags flying), not when Serbia wins the Davis Cup. The nation is highlighted through the individual sport more.

^ not sure but think Murray puts Davis Cup win as one of his highlights? be astonished if wrong
As the icing on the cake, having already won Wimbledon and the US Open. He wouldn't have sacrificed his initial climbing up the rankings with lingering injuries, switching surfaces a couple days later, for an early tie where the rest of the team is so poor you have no chance of winning anyway.

He did exactly what Emma has done in the past, for exactly the same reasons.

Be astonished, Andy is skipping as well for same reason - week before clay season he should be focussed on preparation for clay.

Blame the scheduling. BJK in Glasgow Iga skipped and blamed scheduling, at least she has a Bye in stuttgart so an extra day at least.

If schediuled better I am sure they both would play.
