What a shameless woman. Sunak should revoke her citizenship and deport her.

In all seriousness though her time is better spent on recovering the body and doing a short training block for the clay season. Most players only play BJK cup to qualify for the Olympics anyways.

Well it looks like Rads and Keo don't have a great relationship anyway, so not really a surprise, maybe Rads is waiting for Keo to not be the captain anymore.

Analysis
BBC tennis correspondent Russell Fuller

This qualifying tie in Coventry will be played on a hard court, with the following week's tournament in Stuttgart the first of Emma Raducanu's clay court season.

With a clay court training block scheduled after next week's Miami Open, it is far from ideal for anyone then to switch back to a hard court for a week before beginning the clay season in earnest.

Raducanu's representatives also point to her ongoing wrist issue, which is limiting practice and could be put under further strain by regularly switching surfaces.

But this will be the third time in a row Raducanu has been missing from the British team. She was also absent because of the wrist injury from last November's Billie Jean King Cup Finals, and then chose a tour event in Auckland over the United Cup at the beginning of this year.

And there is no escaping the fact that Raducanu's presence in Stuttgart is expected by sponsors Porsche, as the 20-year-old is a brand ambassador for the car maker.

Emma needs all the matches she gets since she isn't making quarterfinals or anything like that. She SHOULD be playing BJK Cup if she's serious about playing the Olympics next year. Is that quota of having to play a certain amount of Fed Cup matches still in effect for BJK Cup?

Sounds like a honest mistake. She’s an endorsement queen like Sharapova, so she probably doesn’t check her email or hang out with her hoi polloi countrywomen. :oh:

Emma is prioritising a WTA500 over BJK and trying to build for the clay season / stay off hard courts after Miami.

BJKC scheduling always sucks because more often than not it will be at odds with the WTA schedule. Poland also has a tie like three days before Stuttgart starts, but it's in Kazakhstan, so the best-case scenario is 24h traveling forth and back, and that's without everything that entails the travel. I hope Iga skips, too. Gotta have to set priorities.
While true, we also know the folks at Stuttgart/Porsche are more than happy to accommodate late arrivals when they want to, for instance deliberating scheduling Sharapova on a Wednesday for her R32 match because she was barred from being at the tournament site on Monday and Tuesday as she finished out her doping suspension.

Swiatek in particular could well have her first match scheduled on Thursday, given she'll have a first round bye.

Yeah, I think there's a good chance Iga will go to Kazakhstan anyway. Still don't like it because of the big locational changes in a short time and the timezone differences are significant.

BJK Cup should really rethink its schedule. And they should cooperate closely with WTA. There is enough free time in the calendar year to fit everything.

It's nice this cup exists, but if you make players choose between tournaments with ranking points and a glorified exho... Well...

Fed Cup is such an inconvenience. Canadian players are playing indoors in Vancouver days before the clay season starts. ☠

It took them years to move it to FRI-SAT instead of SAT-SUN and give one more travel day to the players.
