Elizabeth Hawkins in NY accepting her no. 1 position on the Billboard Hot 100
Tennis player turned singer Elizabeth Hawkins' debut single, Dirt, has hit no.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles/tracks after just 5 weeks on the chart. Says a top executive at Billboard, "This is quite impressive. To drop your very first single at no. 1 after such a short period of time is quite a rarity. Christina Aguilera was the last artist to do this, and honestly, we didn't think it would be done again. But obviously the public loves this track." Other chart news: 50 Cent's "PIMP" dropped 50 places from 3 to 53 , Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" fell one to no. 2, Christina Aguilera's latest "Can't Hold Us Down" climbed from 31 to no. 9, and all songs by Ashanti were banned by the FCC for polluting too many airwaves .
