i dont know if this has been brought up. but does anyone else think that elena's schedule is a little.. umm... packed? especially for a top tenner. she really needs to cool it off a bit.

Actually some of her tournys esp. from last year and early this year include first round losses. It is only in the recent past that she has become consistent and been playing up to her seeding. If she keeps up her form then too much play may begin to affect her and there is no reason to imagine otherwise. look at Dokic, playing week in week out, it not really alot of matches but alot of travel.

she has to slow down.. for her own good.. but im afraid that if she doesnt play often, she will not play at a top ten level...

i just realized how many points she has to defend the summer of 04... she better start off that year strong!

I don't want her to overplay and burn herself out... but at the moment she is still on the edge to secure a spot at the Year End Championship... So I definitely undertstand why she is going to play 3 weeks in a row this month.....

I hope she will qualify for the Year End Championship...

well I always say no. of tournaments is misleading, no. of matches play is more important.

It is of elena's interest to play more tournament now, coz she want to qualify for the year end champ.

I agree that number of matches played is a better indication of a player's workload. That's why people say Kim was playing too much (singles and doubles). I think if you are consistantly playing 3 or more matches at most tournaments, than playing 28 tournaments is too much.

Elena has 7 1st round losses in those 28 tournaments. So those 7 events have not contributed to her total at all.

Plus isn't it your best 17 events? In my eyes Elena has played 21 solid tournaments (even some of those were up and down), but she didn't go deep in a lot of them, its only since April and especially the hardcourt circuit that Elena has kicked on.

Elena has always stated she needs match rythmn and needs to play regularly to keep that rythmn. Plus with the EOYC coming up, I think she is very motivated to make it (and increase that ranking too).

Just don't overplay Elena!! :)

Yeah she plays too much. She has only had one week off in the last 2 months.
