A surprisingly easy win against Steur who had lost no set until the SF.

Eléonora's second W25 title. :D

With that win, she will move into the WTA Top 300.

Eléonora got a WC for the WTA Luxembourg quali.

There was a bit of a controversy elsewhere on this forum about why Eléonora did not get a WC for the main draw, in addition to the other top local player Mandy Minella. It would be fully justified IMHO given her progress this year and her ranking. Instead, the 19yo American Katie Volynets (WTA 412) got a WC.

The tournament director made a statement in an interview (in luxembourgish), saying that Eléonora initially did not want to play the tournament (which seems odd to me) but changed her mind later. A QWC was the only possible outcome. The director appears a bit annoyed by the subject, so this must have been a complicated issue, the agent Octagon also having a say on this.

Anyway, it's good to see her in the tournament.

the explanation of the director is BS of course. They only have 1 MD WC at their disposal and this one goes to the best local player. All others are given by Octagon. I guess thats why Molinaro has to play qualies - and Volynets plays MD :confused::confused:

Luxembourg Q draw is out.

Eléonora faces (4) Stephanie Voegele in QR1.

Stephanie has played very well in Luxembourg in the past (SF in 2013 and 2015).

I forgot that Eléonora still plays doubles in Luxembourg, with Katarzyna Piter.

They got a WC and face (3) Gasparyan / Niculescu in R1.
