Figured I'd create a thread for who seems to be probably the most promising Kazakh young prospect at the moment.

And she just pulled out an amazing win in R1 of 100K Astana, where she were given a MDWC, so I jumped on the occasion. So, as I was saying, she's won an amazing fight against Ekaterina Gorgodze who's at her best at the moment (reached a CHR of 327 last week) - 3-6 7-6(6) 7-5, from 1-5* down in the last set. Obviously, it's the biggest win of her career and congrats to her for that, it's thoroughly deserved. :yeah: :eek:h: (Plus, she cleaned out the ground, as Gorgodze has to be one of the most disgraceful players out there. She has a terrible attitude...).

Now, she will face (Q)Veronika Kudermetova in R2, a young talented Russian lady was defeated (4)Marta Sirotkina in 3 sets in R1. It will be very tough for Katya I think, but hopefully she won't be too tired and will be able to put on a good fight. :cheer:

Let's introduce her a bit now. This young lady is 18 yo (born June 2, 1996), born in Vladivostok but growing up and living in Almaty, Kazakhstan's capital city.

She reached a CHR of 280 in juniors last year.

This year, she's only played pro events, and after quite a slow start of the season, she started posting some results in April, winning her 1st tournament - 10K Shymkent -, beating seed 2 Anastasia Rudakova (WTA 516 - with a CHR of 453 reached earlier this year), 7-6(4) 6-1 in the final. In R2, she had beaten Russian top seed Margarita Lazareva (WTA 347) 6-7(4) 6-1 6-1. :yeah: That was her best win to date so far. She followed this victorious week with another good week in Shymkent again the week after, reaching QF. :) She lately reached the SF in 10K Astana, 3 weeks ago, as seed 5 (lost to Bolkvadze 2 & 1 in the SF).
With these good results of the last few months, she eventually broke Top 700 this month and reached a CHR of 694 2 weeks ago. :yeah:

She had only played 10Ks this year so far, and she was given an opportunity with that 100K MDWC, but she got a tough opponent in R1 but still could take the opportunity, so huge congrats to her. :worship:

Now, time for a little rest, and onwards to R2! :armed: :cheer:

She's back in action since last week! :bounce:

Last week she played 10K Shymkent and made the QFs. :yeah: She was seed 5, beat (Q)Alina Zubkova 6-1 3-6 6-3 in R1, Daria Lodikova 6-3 1-6 6-4 in R2, before falling to (2)Ksenia Palkina in QF, 4 & 1.

This week, she's playing in Shymkent again, and again she's seed 5. :) R1 vs. (Q)Vera Sakalouskaya :cheer:
