yesterday i watched the ALG vs. Kutznetsova match on german eurosport.
and the commentator talked alot about Martina Navratilova
because both players have played Doubles with Martina in the past
and Martina has won Eastbourne 11 times(?) in the past
and so he said back in the 80´s as the lesbian issue wasn´t so outspoken Eastbourne was like a Christopher Street Day on WTA-Tour
where all Lesbian Players came together.

how do he know it?
and how can i understand such a quote
or was he just talking bullshit
or is he right with his quote?

I've never heard that Christopher Street expression before?

I have read though that back in the 1970s/1980s that the Eastbourne crowd was relaxed about gay players. It was not even an issue, and there was a lot of lesbians in the crowd every year, and it was just a relaxed and free atmosphere. That's what I read in a book anyway ;)

Christopher street day you mean like a Gay pride?

Well Martina did have a huge gay following and Eastbourne is close to Brighton and London, so it is hardly surprising.
But also believe nowadays there is alot less lesbians going to Eastbourne after Martina's retirement and they go to golf tournements instead.
