Sorana looked fatigued after yesterday’s heroics, she even had some chances in the 2nd set as her serve percentages grew a lot compared to the 1st set but when it came to serving to stay in the match for a second time she definitely threw in the towel. Karolina didn’t play amazing but I’m sure she would have raised her level if challenged enough.

 

I wonder what Kaja said to Sorana at the handshake.

 

That was a very nice moment, yes. They actually trained together in Australia earlier this year so I assume they are friendly.

 

The Czechs are winning everywhere today.

Muchova has now won the last 10 quarter-finals she's played! (She gave a walkover to Keys in Eastbourne last year.)

 

She's a bit like Krej. When she gets going she's hard to stop. She's not playing that well here though, she's got a nice draw.

Tauson might be beatable but Andreeva in a final could be a nightmare. Should be hoping to face Rybakina.

Hopefully she does! Hoping for a Muchova bt Rybakina final - that way Muchova gets a big title, and Maddie makes top 5!

 

I'm so glad that in this tournament of flopping, Muchova is not one of them. Can she win the title though?

 

Always going to be tough for Cristea to recover from yesterday. First set seemed like it might be a quick one. However, credit to Cristea for fighting back harder. Muchova started missing more first serves but still played well but Cirstea stayed with her up until serving to stay in the match at 5-6 and just made errors to hand the game and match to Muchova. Maybe she didn’t fancy any more tennis!

Tauson is playing well but is quite unpredictable but even though she’s not played her best tennis, good to see Muchova go deep.

 

I would love to see Muchova take the title this week.

Strange how much taller and stronger Muchova is. Seeing them separately I always thought they were about the same.
