Which doubles team would you like to see succeed next year and why?

1. Raymond/Stubbs
2. Navratilova/Sanchez-Vicario
3. Likhotseva/Black
4. McNeil/Coetzer
5. Ruano-Pascal/Paola Suarez
6. Hingis/Kournikova
7. Kournikova/Schett
8. Callens/Rubin
9. Dokic/Martinez
10. Po-Messerli/Tauziat
11. Clijsters/Sugiyama
12. Testud/Vinci
13. Williams/Williams

I'm sure that there are some other teams that I have overlooked. If so, please feel free to name them!

Oh, I was not aware of that pairing. Sounds good to me. I was not sure whether Kournikova/Hingis would pair up again given the girls on-again/off-again relationship.

Anyway, I heard a rumor that Silvia was retiring @ the end of this season. I'm glad to know that she will be back for the 02 season!

In your list, it would be Sugiyama / Clijster because of... Sugiyama .

Otherwise, all in all, it would be Prakusya / Lee. They have had a good 2001 season but could not make it in the Masters Cup because of :
- Fed Cup matches + S.E.A. Games for Prakusya (missed a few tourneys in the States)
- Universiade for Lee (missed a few tourneys too, including the US Open).

So I hope they can make it this year .

I hadn't heard that Martina and Arantxa are not playing doubles together anymore; just curious - does anyone know why?

Martina decided that it was probably best for both of them if they found different partners, because of their doubles styles. Both are much better at returning on their backhand side (ad court), so they just weren't getting the results they wanted because no matter what one of them being on deuce court was probably going to hinder them as a team.

Cool info Randy! Thanks a lot!

I'm very happy about Schett and Farina-Elia, even though I though Silvia had retired. Two hot chicks

Upon closer inspection of the list, I realize I am a big fan of several other teams, especially all the Oldies!!!!

And I also hope to see both Pierce and Davenport back on the doubles scene.

I really think Testud/Vinci will be one of the stronger team next year. They have done so well in 2001 with only few tournies played, and I am sure Roberta Vinci will improve her game in 2002.
You also are missing Grande/Fusai that made it to the Chase this year and will be playing again together next year, and do not forget Garbin/Husarova, they were doing extremely well before Tax got injured and they will be one of the strongest team during the new season.
Last, Silvia Farina, she IS NOT retiring and she will play singles and doubles. I am not sure that she will be playing with Schett during the whole year, she changes partners all the time and Schett is only one of her many friends she likes to play with.
