I, more or less, remember mine.

It would be pretty interesting to compare it to what we predicted an year, so before giving new predictions, look at how our previous preditions worked..

Of course, Capriati's run to the top couldn't really be predicted. Anyways..

One by one, as I remember them from one year ago:

Prediction 1, Foursome of Dementieva, Clijsters, Dokic and Henin will challenge the dominance of Big Four, reshape the Top 10 and that mere concept ( Big Four) ceases to exist.

Assessment: I consider this prediction pretty much correct, except that I thought that Elena will play major role in that while her contribution was insignificant, two Grand Slam finals of Belgians and the latest stride by Jelena make them three permanent residents of Top 10 for now.

Prediction 2: The following group of players will make the next step to retirement and their rankings will drop drastically: Testud, Tauziat, Martinez, ASV, Pierce.

Assessment: I consider this prediction being mostly
right for two Spaniards, incorrect for two older Frenchwomen, and not applicable in case of Pierce.

Prediction 3: Davenport will slump from being a Top player and finish year no higher than #5.

Assessment: Obviously incorrect.

Prediction 4: Seles will end year at the bottom of Top 10.

Assessment: Correct on paper. Quite incorrect by what was originally meant by that prediction. I thought that Seles will be the major of victim of attack of young wave. Instead, Seles showed some indication of getting back to where she really belongs. We'll see next year.

I predicted that Venus would retain all of her titles especially Wimby and the U.S. Open, and was literally laughed at on the Sanex board... Many said it was just a fluke Anyway, with the expection of BOW , she successfully defended all , won the ericsson for the 3rd time and even won a tournament on clay

i really like your ranking prediction, that effort and though and you know, just how cool that you did that. big big big thumbs up!!!!

and also the reality you gave to kournikova's actual skill is very much appreciated, too many people brush her off and i think you neither played her up or put her down but rather gave her appropriate predictions. and based upon her end/beginning of year performance in 2000/2001 your ranking is pretty accurate for what she probably would have ended up as as well.

i put the thumbs up for hte little picture of my post

I don't remember specifically, but certain predictions stand out in my mind.

Venus Williams will finish the year at #1.

Serena Williams will win the USOpen

Venus Williams will win the French

Serena Williams would end the year ranked in the top 4.

Lindsay Davenport will win a GS title.

Elena Dementieva would at least make a GS semi.

The 1999 top four would end 2001 ranked as the top four.

Mary Pierce will retire and have children.

I was right about a couple things.

Martina Hingis will not won a GS title.

Monica Seles will not won a GS title.

Venus will win Wimbledon

Basically, except Venus winning Wimbledon, I was 0-for-the-year.

So next year, I'm bound to be more right than this year.

Don't feel too bad about your Monica prediction. Most people made that prediction last year, and most have made it again for next year. And, once again at the end of next year, they will be lucky if they are right even on paper. Monica's current ranking is much like Serena's, more indicative of how much she's played as opposed to how well. (2 Slams and no Clay season)

well almost everyone predicted coetzer, tuaziat and
a.s vicario out of the top 20 and some out of the top 50 so.........
Amanda Coetzer#16- a usual for her
Tuaziat#11- was in top 10 most of te year
A.S Vicario#18-dropped a bit but not out of the top 20 or 50........................

I'm not gonna start with my predictions from last year i was like right about 15-100 which is horrible
my problem is i'm to biased to predict right sometimes, like i keep on thinking amanda coetzer will win a grandslam.

I have no idea what my predictions were, but I am sure they were probably way off I think I said something along the lines of the slam winners being Venus Hingis Venus Davenport. Definetly didn't think Capriati would be so high!

Josh, I really liked your ranking predictions, especially that you went so far down the list! And although she was far off the mark, I'm pleased that I'm not the only one who has faith in Karina's abilities Also liked the Meilen Tu prediction, she had a solid year and lived up to your expectations

#7 isn't bad considering she missed the majority of the clay and summer hard court season. And that ranking, again, is more due to injury than being hit by the new wave players, who seemed to have fallen off or stayed the same as last year.
