Do top doubles pairs let each other be #1?

I noticed for example that regular pairing Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs are #1 and #2 in the rankings. I know Rennae has been #1 in her own right, but if she hadn't do you think she would say to Lisa ' can you let me play a few events with another partner so I can be #1 for a while?', or will there be too much of a rivalry between the two? I mean I can imagine Lisa saying yes of course, but then won't she want to claim it back to be end-of-year #1!!!

If Renae wanted to be #1 then she would play more tournaments that Lisa takes an off week. Renae doesn't play singles, so she has all her energy for doubles...which leads me to my brainbuster of why she doesn't play more. She would surely get the #1 ranking and I don't think Lisa would care too much.

I doubt there is much jealousy over ranks in doubles.

Lisa is number one cos she is the best doubles player. Rennae is only number two cos she plays with the best doubles player.

But jaz wait til Martina and Anna play a few more tournies......Lisa won't be #1 for much longer......

Lisa should keep it.

I was a fan of Renae's (because where both from OZ), but since this years Aus Open, I don't think she deserves the Number #1 spot, or to be playing with a good doubles player.

Martina is still the best doubles player.

i also like lisa being the number 1 doubles player....unless martina and anna start playing more together...

Yep, Lisa should stay at number 1. She is a great doubles player, and she has earned the top ranking.

Hopefully, she will be able to keep it for a while.
