I've seen a featurette about that hotel before. I think they talked to Venus, Serena, and Lindsay about staying there (I may be remembering wrong), so either they were just talking to some American players, or it is just the top ones that stay there.

It has the shape of a sail

Besides, the Burj El Arab is on of the most controversional building/hotel in the world, without most peeps knowing about it.

Becoz, at night, the back of the Burj (view from the seaside), is lightened in such a way, it looks like a big cross.... A big cross, in the Middle East!!! :speakles:

I've seen a pic somewhere from that, will look for it ...

When they did that VH1 special on Tennis players, Capriati,Venus and Serena mentioned this hotel as being the best in Dubai. It was said that it cost $1100 per night and has a 24hr butler and chauffeur driven car service.

I'm pretty sure that all of the players stay at the hotel as long as they're in the tournament.

The top players though (Lindsay, Momo, Maria, etc) probably are staying in one of the luxury suites at the hotel free of charge as a gift from the tournament. They put Martina Hingis in one of those suites the first year this tournament was run and it was said to cost about $6000 a night.
