In watching this first set, Kapros seems like a good player. She has great groundstrokes and is good hitting on the run. Why has she not done anything about that awful serve? Not only is there no pace on it, but she doesn't even get many in!! Her 1st serve speed averages 80-85mph, yet she doesn't get that many in.

If she improves that serve, she could be a solid player on the level of Likhovtseva. What are her best results so far? I think they said she won the Australian Open juniors a few years ago.

I think Kapros is a good allround player, and came to the net on many occasions. OK to beat Justine was going to be tough call but still.

The top players seem to be spoiled by being used to feeding off their opponent's pace. Justine has had trouble with Elena D. too when she's had to generate her own power on the return to a 65 mph serve. Didn't that tactic work for Alyona in doubles at wimby? by surprising Venus and Serena with a couple of serves that had nothing on it causing them to make an error?

Yeah that's definatly true..Justine doesn't like to generate her own pace. When Justine blasted a winner off the serve it was because Kapros actually put something on the serve.

What is wierd though is that given all of the trouble that Dementieva has given Justine, I figured Serena would have a hell of time with her. She really seemed to handle Dementieva's pace (or lack of ) very well at Wimbeldon.

Kapros moved very well and used the pace of Justine's forehand/backhand to get the bal quick back. Kapros was in trouble when Justine sliced and she had to make pace herself.
Her serve is bad but it's hard to hit that ball ... you know it's bad and have to punnish it but to be at the right time on the ball ... not used to that.

With playing like that Kapros forced Justine to take some more riscs and she made a lot of errors by that.

Good match for Aniko, bad first set, better 2th for Justine!
