Diana (born April 2, 2004) is Kristina (Volgapkina)'s big rival: she's from Moscow as well, same age (only 1 month older than Kristina), but their gamestyles are pretty different - Diana is left-handed and plays a more aggressive tennis. They faced each other twice on the Tennis Europe tour, both times were this year, and the H2H is 1-1 (Diana beat Kristina 7-5 6-3 in January, and Kristina beat Diana 7-6(1) 6-4)... I'm really interested in seeing how both girls will respectively develop and how this pretty exciting rivalry will evolve! :bounce:

Diana hasn't played much in comparison to Kristina this year: she played only 5 tournaments, won 2 of them (G12 Pirogovskiy Cup, beating Aliona Falei 3 & 3 in the final; and G12 Boris Skorodumov Memorial Cup, double-bagelling Aliona Falei in the final :hysteric: :cying2: #Belarusianpunchbag) and was the runner-up in 2 others (at G12 Lagoda Cup, she lost 1 & 3 to Erika Andreeva in the final; and at G12 Luzhniki Cup, where she got her revenge over Andreeva in R2, but then lost to Kristina in the final), with only 1 early loss in her last tournament (G12 Sochi Cup, she retired in R1, at the end of the 2nd set and despite having won the first set... hopefully she didn't injure herself! :scared: ).
Her W-L ratio in singles this year is 18-3.

I guess that next yera she'll start playing a few G14s (Kristina has already started these last few months), looking forward! :cheer::cheer::cheer:

Dianka is now playing Cat. 1 G14 Junior Kremlin Cup: she's the 13th seed, had a bye in R1, and beat Azaliia Ziganshina (turning 14 in a couple weeks) 2-6 6-4 6-0 in R2 today :scared: :yeah:

She'll face 3rd seed Alina Scherbinina (13 yo), who reached the semis last week in Khimki, in R3 :bounce: Great challenge, moooiinn! :armed: :cheer:

Dianka reached the final in doubles with Katya Kuznetsova :hearts: They couldn't pull out the final win today, lost 3-6 6-7(2) in the final :awww:

But they did a good job reaching the final and didn't get thrashed by this older & more experienced pair who always play together :yeah:

Omg, Dianka tried to vulture Cat. 3 G14 Baku Junior Open 1 this week but flopped: she was the 2nd seed, beat Alina Gavrish 2 & 1 in R1 and Ksenia Zaytseva 2 & 1 in R2, but she lost to 7th seed Nadezda Khalturina 4-6 6-1 2-6 in QF :tears: :smash:

Epic fail! :silly:

Dianka played Cat. 2 G14 Togliatti Cup this week: she was the 2nd seed, double-bagelled Angelina Zhumadilova in R1, beat Elizaveta Shebekina 1-6 7-6(3) 6-4 in R2 and 8th seed Elizaveta Krokhina 1 & 3 in QF, lost 5-7 6-7(1) to 5th seed Dinara Alloyarova in SF :(

Meh... Losing to Dina is far from tragic, but it still seems she's struggling atm :sobbing:

Also, Dianka is playing dubs with Belarusian Ilaryia Grudino :inlove:

They're the top seeds, are through to the semis, where they'll face Belarusian pair Komar/E. Tikhonko (who won last week's Minsk Cat. 2 G14) :armed:

Dianka beat Kristina, 6-3 5-7 6-1 :awww: :yeah:

Sadly, she & Ilarka got thrashed in SFs, 1 & 3 :tears: :( Would have preferred her to lose in singles and win in dubs tbh :SNE:

Dianka will face... (8)Ilaryia Grudino in SF tomorrow :sobbing: :awww: :bounce:

Diana won 6-0 4-2 ret. against Ilarka yesterday, and she got double-breadsticked by local 3rd seed Aliona Falei in the final today :awww:

She must have been pretty disappointed to get thrashed by Aliona like that given how Aliona used to be her punchbag last year... :tears: But it's been a very good week for Dianka imo, her best one after a really dismal start to the year! :yeah:
