That's not trash talking.
Alyona is saying how much respect she has for Srebotnik's game.

Srebotnik is tough, I did not myself expect such an easy match. However Miss Serve and volley Pisnik will be tough.

When you hear the way the Slovene captain was talking up their chances before the tie (I read an article about it and she sounded really confident) and the fact that Srebotnik declared she was in great form herself and expected it to continue over the weekend, this is a bit of a surprise. To be honest though, that wasn't the most necessary observation by Dementieva - I mean, when does anyone expect a really tough match in Fed Cup when they're the higher-ranked player?

How is that trash talking? Basically she's saying that Srebotnik is a good player so she thought that she'd struggle against her.

Trash talking would be if she said "pff, I can't believe I let a nobody like her take that many games off me!"

I don't know whay some people try so hard to find a controversy where there isn't one. That's not even the whole quote - I have it only translated, but she said something like "I didn't expect such an easy win, but eventhough we lead 2:0 we still have to win one point tomorrow. I think it's harder to play infront of a home audience and I believe my opponent was under greater pressure." The fact is Elena won without trouble. She was paying Katarina a compliment when she said she expected a harder match. How was she supposed to comment the match?! To say "Oh, it was so tough?". It wasn't. I watched the whole sad thing.

Lol, if she's saying that cos thinks that Srebotnik plays so well, she's also saying that Srebotnik played crap today hehe. Which i guess is fine if Kat was shit.

Come on, like people pointed out, if she expected a harder match it means she has respect for Kata's game. As simple as that.

Thanks Eggy. And you think the Russians are often "snakebit", imagine being from the Balkans. Despite winning the FCC a year ago (with a far easier draw than Peppermint Patty had, of course!), Iva seems Ova and I don't mean as in egg, e-tha. Jeca has more excuses than events played (hell, she's a stateless person NEway); Kata, Tina P. and those other 2 Jelena's can't find their, er, groove and Matea's buried somewhere in your Challenger forum. Karolina's carrying the weight of a whole region, it seems!

You should not foreget that this board is full with
lot of 14 and 15 year posters. So it is no surprise
that some of them may not know the meaning of the world "trash".
