Anna will have to defend 422 points of her total of 426 within the first 6 weeks of season 2002, oh oh . . .

Venus is such a good position to take over the top spot at this time

so these top-10 players have the biggest chances to move if they play well in the first half of the year:

V. Williams
S. Williams
Dokic (she virtually has no points to defend until april)

Martina and Jennifer will have a very hard time defending, as they both have over 3000 points to defend in the first half of the year.

Justine also has rather many points to defend.

Question: does the period ASB Classic - Ericsson include the Australian Hardcourt season?

Arantxa has virtually nothing to defend during the Australian Hardcourt season but has TONS of points to defend on clay. VAMOS!!

I think that Aranxta will move up a few places in the Aus hardcourt season when she has so little to defend. Obviously her strength is clay, but she can definitely play better on other surfaces than she did last year.

Anna will drop initially and then rise again later in the year.

sk, you are under the assumption she will unsuccessfully defend these points? ....ok.... ill stay rather optimistic
