Well I have enjoyed my day at the qualies on the Gold Coast so much, despite a few showers to begin with the sun shining out in the end :D

When I got to the venue it was raining meaning the qualie matches were delayed & I had no choice but to go to centre court & watch the players practice (luckily the court was under a shade cloth & that you culd sit wherever you want). The players I saw practising to begin with were Victoria Azarenka with Shahar Peer & Francesca Schiavone with Ai Sugiyama, & they were all on the court at the same time. They were hitting the ball so cleanly in practice & I could hear Victoria grunting a bit while she was hitting the ball against Shahar  Fran & Ai were jokin around a bit as well whenever they made some crazy shots which was good to see :)

Then I spotted Amelie Mauresmo & her entourage in the stands watching the girls practice & she looked fairly relaxed. As the minutes went on Patty Schnyder sat in the stands. After the practice sessions between ai, fran, vika & shahar were over, amelie & patty practised together along side jie zheng & zi yan. there was no sign of rainer at the practice though  :tape:

Then the rain cleared & went to watch Rakhim vs Bacsinszky on East Court 2 & left when the score was 4-3 bacsinszky's way & I went back to centre court to watch petrova & vesnina practice together as well as shvedova & poutchek. I also walked past Sybille Bammer & Anne Keothavong while I was alternating to centre court & the outside courts back & forth :)

Then I left centre court to watch Jessica Moore vs Galina Voskoboeva on East Court One. Jess started off the match very well by breaking serve with some great baseline play before she got broken back at deuce after saving a BP. games went with serve until the 5th game when jess broke again to lead 3-2 until she got broken again  most of the 1st set had breaks of serve & galina served for the first set at 5-4 before jess broke back to even it up at 5-5. however she dropped the first set 7-5 by double faulting on SP  the second set was just all galina who actually took it 6-3, not 6-2. Moore played some great tennis & most times she was outhitting galina more than galina was outhitting her & moore just made a few too many errors when it mattered & galina's experience also helped.

Then I watched Brianti vs Wheeler on East Court Two & Wheeler was up 6-5 when I just arrived & wheelz came back from 4-2 down in the tiebreak after leading 2-0. She played consistent solid tennis & got Brianti frustrated at times with her consistency which was what got her victory in the end. And guess what :D I was sitting right behind Christina's sister & at the end of the match I talked to her & told her to congratulate Christina about her AO WC playoff win :bounce: she said she will :) and she was friendly towards me.

Afterwards on the same court it was Yuliana Fedak vs Harriet Sheahan. Of course Fedak won in straight sets but Harriet really put up a good fight actually, she defended well at times & went for her shots, however whenever she hit a shot that put fedak on the defense she would s'times overhit the next shot & s'times her ball were too shot which put her under even more pressure, if Harriet can gain more experience she can do well. Fedak on the other hand was just way too exerienced & played some good touch shots at time.

Then I watched the last moments of Cody Morris vs Trudi Musgrave on East Court One. It was the 6-3 4-3 Musgrave leading & her experience prevailed over the youth of Morris to win. Trudi came into the net a lot from what I saw & at times Cody made some mistakes due to a lack of experience.

Then I watched Shvedova vs Zheng on East Court Two & Shvedova was completely outhitting Zheng with some nice baseline winners to win the first set 6-1. Then Shvedova took a toilet break & when she came back Zheng had the trainer out (don't what for exactly) however it didn't affect her much & it looked liked both of them were playing mind games with each other.

Then to finish the day I watched Petrova practised with Bammer on centre court alongside Flavia Pennetta who was practising with Li Na. Whenever Flavia or Nadia made a mistake in practice, s'times they would let their emotions show in a funny & friendly way. Flavia & Nadia even laughed with each other at times while they chatted. I also spotted Cara Black in the stands as she was about to practice after these players. There was also this funny moment when one of the volunteers of the event who had the players towels & was about to climb down the these small steps to centre slipped on the last step & landed on his bottom on the court surface right near Black :haha: and everyone incl. the players just looked at him & laughed :tape:

I had to wait in the hotel foyer for my mum to pick me up & while I was sitting & waiting for her, I spotted Shahar Peer with this lady & they walked right past me. I also saw Bammer walking to the lifts to her hotel room.

So all in all I had such a marvellous day & it felt like being a kid in a candy store :bounce: I'm going tomorrow for the 2nd round of qualies & hopefully to watch the players practice on centre court :)

I've taken photos as well too & they will be uploaded shortly :)

So the injury isn't affecting her that badly?

Thanks for the report Ben.
Sophie was just watching some of the Aussie girls matches, she wasn't playing or practising from what I saw. I also saw her walked past centre court barefooted with her mum

But I don't think the injury is that serious.
