Martina not winning slams was not the only reason she was slammed. In addition to that, she hadn't beaten a player in the top 10 in months! and hadn't won a title since February! Compare that to Davey who's won her last 3 tourneys, consistently beating other top 10 along the way. So, IMHO there is a big difference in Lindsay ending the year at #1 and Martina Hingis being in that position.

btw--who WAS the last top 10 player that Martina Hingis actually beat?
