Her next big tournament will be Filderstadt. For her it will be sth. special to come back to a place, where she celebrated afterwards her firtst time in the Top 10.
She came into the final without losing a set! In the final she lost after a great match 64, 36, 46 against Kim Cljsters.
Here the list of player's: (source: official web site: http://193.155.96.61/porsche-tennis/de/meldeliste.htm)

Clijsters, Kim (is maybe injured)

Henin-Hardenne, Justine

Davenport, Lindsay

Mauresmo, Amelie

Capriati, Jennifer

Myskina, Anastasia

Rubin, Chanda

Hantuchova, Daniela

Maleeva, Magdalena

Dementieva, Elena

Martinez, Conchita

Zvonareva, Vera

Coetzer, Amanda

Sugiyama, Ai

Bovina, Elena

Shaugnessa, Meghann

Schnyder, Patty

Petrova, Nadia

Farina Elia, Silvia

Dokic, Jelena

This is a really tough field and will be a good opportunity to build up confindence for Dani by beating a good name. Maybe there will be a chance for a revanche against Patty!

This really is the best of the best. No wonder tickets are selling rapidly.

What a event! Anna Pistolesi (I doubt- she is more a clay player), Krasnroutskaya, Stevenson, Raymond, Daniilidou, Likhovtseva and so on... These player's are also eventuelly threats for a big name in the first round. And Daniela needs also luck and her proper tenis, because as a tier II event it is looking more like a little grand slam!

Hello everyone! :wavey:

I wasn't for 3 days online. Now the draw for Filderstadt is out! Not so easy for Daniela. In the first round she will face a qualifayer- it's possible..... but than is waiting Kim Cljisters. But the big question is how much injured is she????  Maybe she can't play 100% or even won't play.... I hope for Daniela she can win that... Daniela has just the game to do so on every fast surefaces! If she wins that, this would be a big boost to her confidence. Remember Lina defeated her too and last year Daniela wasn't that far away from beating HER: Maybe a upset for the nr. 1. For Daniela it's just great, because all pressure is on the defending champion and world numer 1! So Dani try your best and TAKE HER OUT!
In the quarterfinal she could have a meeting with Mauresmo. She beat her last year in 3 in the Fedcup. Mauresmo lost in Moscow in the final against a superb Myskina 2-6, 4-6! :worship: :worship:
I will visit Filderstadt at friday.... :bounce: I hope to see Daniela in the quarters after a great win against the world nr. 1!!!!

Bye, Jan :wavey:

This is the hardest possible route realistic for winning a final.
However, I think Daniela does better against better opposition and I'm confident she'll do very well.

Last year is nothing to go by, Kim is a different player this time and if she takes part she will be a big threat, regardless of injury.

Mauresmo is a wounded animal. Losing the KC final will mean her desire to win this time around will be burning in her.

A win against Kim will, in my opinion, turn a new page for Daniela and she will become a great! :worship:

I actually think Dani has been handed a god-send with the draw, Kim has only practiced once since Leipzig and she struggled on small quick movements cause of the pain in her ankle, kim is travelling to Filderstadt and will see how the ankle goes over the next couple of days. But I think Kim will withdraw and now since the draw has been made once Kim withdraws Dani has a clear path to the QF and Mauresmo. Even if Kim plays she won't be fit, the match won't be good quality, and Dani will win quite easily. Remember kim has practiced once since leipzig and that session was only light and her movement was limited. Realistically kim shouldn't play.

Kim and Dani are friends so Dani should do Kim a favor by winning as soon as possible so Kim gets of the court and rests her ankle. Of course if the match between the two eventuates I want Kim to win, but trust me Dani will win in 2 sets if it happens. Dani will already of had a match, Kim won't have. It's a shame kim is injured I'd love to see them both play each other again with both of them in good form. I guess I will have to wait for 2004 for that. Basically I'm trying to say don't expect firreworks if this match does take place - Kim's ankle is sprained!! She can't possibly play well Daniela will just need to put in two good shots make Kim move slightly and point over - Dani wouldn't even need to play well -the 100 BP's would do great for Dani's rank :) But I do think Kim will withdraw - or atleast I hope she does

Kims got her #1 ranking to (try and) protect too - I'd be surprised if she'd just default if there's a chance of her playing. She'd have to fancy her chances against Dani at the moment too.

But there's still a qualifier to get past... do we know who that is yet?

I disagree - a win against a fit Kim yes, but a win against an injured Kim - no
Any win against Kim is of massive psychological proportions.

Kim will only take part if she thinks she can win the tournament and if she is in the draw then she will be still a favourite.

Well, Dani opens this campaign with a doubles match today.

Hantuchova/Rittner
vs
Huber/Maleeva (4)

Good luck girls :bounce:

Why with Rittner
I saw her playing double with Vento Kabchi against Dani and Babsi.... You know the result. I also don't like Rittner much....
But anyway- good luck girls!!!! :bounce: :bounce:
