I think that Serena has the most amazing court coverage. She gets to everything, it seems, and returns it back with angles and power and placement. I guess...that's why Babygirl is the best!!! :worship:

I don't think Serena has the best court coverage : I think it's between Venus and Kim.
Serena is a very offensive and powerful player : when you play against her, you have less chance to have a winner than against a top20. but it's just, for a great part, because Serena is offensive.
HOwever, Justine has a good court coverage, especially considering her height!

who cares about court coverage if you cant keep the ball in.

justine, for sheer ability to keep impossible shots in play. kim's a close second, and venus is a close third.

BTW, I think Venus has a slight edge in court coverage on Serena and Kim too. I was watching a clip of her against Chanda at the FO 2002, and Chanda had compete control over a point, but Venus' defense eventually turned it around in her favor and she volleyed away a winner.

i always thought venus was faster than serena but everytime the commentators speak about the williams sisters they carrying on about how fast serena is around the court but they don't say that about venus.

anyway i know both are great side to side but how are they going up to net? (chasing down dropshots). i can't remember ever seeing venus chase down a drop shot (as in i've never seen her had to try to).

justine is very fast but when she gets to the ball she hits more of a defensive shot than an aggressive shot. one can take this in two ways. 1) she decides to play the percentages. 2) she just doesn't get to it in time. i believe it is the first one but since i'm not really a big fan and i don't like watching her i haven't seen enough of her to make a judgement.

but i would say it is between serena, venus and justine. but i'm also curious about players like zvonareva. on clay she is really fast like when she beat venus but on other surfaces from what i've seen she isn't that fast.

I think Serena is more explosive meaning that she accelerates better, but what Venus lacks in quickness she makes up for in reach and long strides. Here is a clip of Venus covering a clay court. Scroll to about 1 min 1o sec.

Serena is amazing , I have to agree but I think that Dementieva is right up there; I remember a particular match against Davenport at the Chase where she must have run down 6 unbelievable shots from Davey, at one point, she was not even facing the court, she was backward, but she manage to win the point. Ant that was indoor!!! a verry fast surface with a low bounce.

In my mind you guys are forgetting Amanda Coetzer and Anna Pistolesi. They might not be as offensive when the move but their whole game is based around how many balls they get back. The Williams, Clijsters, Henin-Hardenne, and even J Cap. are very quick. They move well and do something with the ball on the run. All can hit consistent winners or forcing shots on the run.

Yeah the sisters are still the cream of the crop when talking about court coverage. Serena´s faster but Venus has more reach.

Knizzle, where are you getting these clips from, I've been looking for somewhere to get tennis videos online forever
For you and caelestia, I get them from either tournament websites or Eurosport, or BBC sport. If anyone can find more video clips somewhere else let me know so I can check them out. THX. ;)
