OMG!!! What a freakin' match. I'm still watching it, but I was online earlier today to catch up on live scores and Andreas was down 2-6 2-5 and I thought it was over. So I went out, then came back online to find out Andreas won 2-6 7-6(5) 7-6(6) against Sjeng Schalken!!! In the third he was leadin 5-0 but let Sjeng come back and went to another tiebreaker. But he won!!!!! I knew this guy had potential, congrats Andreas!!!!!! Good luck against Yevgeny Kafelnikov!!!!

He should be in the top 40 by now. Go Andreas!!! Take the title!!!!

Yup, this should take him into the top 40.
Myabe next year he can have a break through and get into the top 20.
He can be a little erratic, but from what I saw in that match he canplay well from all areas of the court.

Its funny though... I keep reading that he just reached his first tennis masters series semis...
However he reached the finals in Rome where Guga beat him.
Silly Media needs to get it straight!

OMG! I was about to say the same thing, Becca. Even commentators of men's tennis don't know what they are talking about. I guess they only know about US tennis.lol

Even though Andreas got beaten badly against Guga, he shoved great groundstrokes. Cheers Andreas!!! Let's make it your FIRST Master Series FINAL!

Eeek...he has a bad head to head record against Yevgeny. He hasn't even won a set, but Andreas is full of confidence now. I hope he isn't too tired from his previous matches. Good luck Andreas!!!

Its great to see a young guy who can play well on more than one surface.
He has not had good results on clay, and indoors.
If I'm not correct his sole singles title came indoors at copenhagen 2000. This year he reached the final there where he lost to tine Henman.

Does he ever -play doubles to work on his all round game? I recall him playing doubles with Ferrero on clay at some tournament this year...I dont think they got through qualifying though (could someone PLEASE explain to me why those two need to qualify for doubles?). What Ferrero is doing playing doubles on clay is beyond me...he hardly needs to improve his game there.
Anyways...I got off track with my babbling lol

Babbling about Ferrero in Andreas' thread! LMAO! He does sometimes play doubles sometimes...he's ranked 364th in the world in doubles*cough*, but he's only played 8 tourneys. Maybe he should play more doubles to improve his game more.

Oh well, what I expected. Yevgeny beat Andreas 6-1 7-6(6). If he had won that 2nd set, I think we could've been looking at an upset. He must've been too tired from all the matches he played this week. Congrats on getting this far Andreas! And hoping for many more good results in the future!
