I dont believe in dancing on someone's blood and i dont get her, why come to the show and talk about it like we are all morally saints

She came to the show just to be seen on tv bc her career is dead or to settle a long score with her former co-star

Uh no, she was promoting her current role as Alexa Carrington on Dynasty. But of course the interviewers started off with questions about the scandal, which has to be expected since its currently worldwide headline news.

Nicolette also talked about having to leave ( seems temporary ) Dynasty so she can take care of her mother who is currently battling advanced stage 4 cancer.
I think she could have had more respect to her former co star and say I rather not talk about it until the picture will be clear. Likei said no one of us is an angel and om sure she like many are no saint

Do think anyone from full or fuller cast will talk about loughlin? I doubt it

The conservative justices also wondered whether universities can tip the balance between two equally qualified students toward the one who is black or Hispanic.
I see problems with affirmative action and quotas.

I see problems with affirmative action and quotas.
Then you should see problems with why it was necessary.

Quotas make sense, because minorities often have a disadvantage in the educational system from the very beginning, because they come from poorer neighborhoods, go to shittier public schools, therefore have smaller chances getting a piece of the higher education pie through natural processes. Moreover, the ones that do get affirmative action are more likely to appreciate it, as going to a university for a minority gives them a lot of sense of pride compared to someone from a wealthy family that takes such a thing as granted. That also plays a role in motivation. Minorities are more motivated to succeed, given the opportunity. They don't go to universities to "enjoy the college experience" :grin2:

AA (affirmative action) should have been a temporary band-aid...

problem is, society hasn't progressed enough to make AA obsolete.

it's not really the role of university or jobs to be playing social planner, but unless there aren't other mechanisms to create diversity and less segregation in society, you will continue to see good arguments for why AA should exist

Conservatives Are Now Blaming the College Scam Scandal on Affirmative Action

Amanda Tarlton
March 18, 2019

As the investigation into the college admissions bribery scandal continues, prosecutors learned that grades and test scores weren’t the only things that William “Rick” Singer faked. The mastermind revealed that he also falsified students’ ethnicities to get them into the country’s top universities.

According to the New York Post, Assistant US Attorney Eric S. Rosen told Judge Rya *Zobel that Singer “[lied] about students’ ethnicities and other biographical information in an attempt to take advantage of perceived benefits from affirmative action and other programs.”

The case, which is the largest college admissions scam in the history of the U.S., has raised a lot of questions about affirmative action, specifically whether or not it should be abolished.

Many conservatives, including some of the Supreme Court Justices, feel that affirmative action is unfairly taking away spots at colleges from qualified white students and giving them to potentially less-qualified minority students based on race alone. And they argue that the Singer scandal proves how unfair the racial bias in admissions can be.

Walter Olson, a senior fellow at the Cato Institute, explained to CNN, “If racial preference is unjust, then it doesn’t magically become just because people notice some other injustice that has different beneficiaries. Two things can be unjust at the same time, and two injustices do not add up to one justice.”

However, defenders of affirmative action say the opposite is true—that the scam reveals the prevalence of white privilege and how much harder it is for students of color to get into college when the system is so easily gamed.

“Some people have said wealth is affirmative action for white people,” Anthony Jack, an assistant professor of education at Harvard University, told CNN. “What [this scandal] is exposing is the steps and the leaps and bounds that wealthy families take to secure a spot that is rightfully no one’s — that they think they have proprietary ownership of.”

The arguments against AA outweigh the arguments for AA. Needs to be abolished as soon as possible.

Normally affirmative actions prejudices mostly Asians, who had no historical privileges and have absolutely no guilty and part in whatever the state of other ethnic minorities are nowadays. Also, funnily enough, are the people with less representativity in politics and entertainment.

Affirmative Action is not prejudiced against Asian-Americans, it is the white admissions people that are prejudice against Asian-Americans.
