LUXEMBOURG (TICKER) -- Slumping Amanda Coetzer, the only seed in action Monday, faces Barbara Rittner in the first round of the $170,000 Seat Open indoor tennis event.

Coetzer has lost seven of her last 10 matches and does not have consecutive wins since reaching the third round of Wimbledon in July. But she has had success at this tournament, winning in 1997.

The South African lost to eventual-winner Lindsay Davenport in the second round of last week's Swisscom Challenge at Zurich, Switzerland.

Also Monday, Kveta Hrdlickova of the Czech Republic plays Lilia Osterloh of the United States and Spain's Gala Leon Garcia battles Switzerland's Patty Schnyder.

The top seed is Wimbledon runner-up Kim Clijsters of Belgium, who won the first of her five WTA Tour titles here in 1999. Clisters has won two tournaments this year, including the Sparkassen Cup last month.

Clijsters received a first-round bye, along with second seed Silvia Farina Elia of Italy. Farina Elia has played well of late, reaching at least the quarterfinals in three straight events and four of her last five. She was a semifinalist at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow three weeks ago.

Anke Huber of Germany, the 1996 champion, is seeded fourth. Huber is retiring at the end of the year and could be playing in her final tournament.

Fifth seed Anna Kournikova of Russia, playing in her last event of the year, hopes to snap a five-match losing streak. Kournikova has not won in four matches since returning from a major foot injury.

Lisa Raymond of the United States, Anne Kremer of Luxembourg and Francesca Schiavone of Italy complete the top eight seeds.

First prize is $27,000.
