I like her alot!! She has a great attitude and seems like such a nice girl how could anyone not like her?? If you want to click on my name and look up the things I posted about Clijsters you will see all the good things I have said about her, but of course no one remembers that,m they only want to focus on the criticisms you make.

Joana - Kim has that potential, if she doesn't already possess it. She completely intimidated opponents at the start of the year...even Serena. After her win at the Championships and then blowing through the Sydney draw and then the first few rounds of the Australian Open, Kim was the player. That carried into the Serena match to 5-1 in the 3rd set. Then Kim choked, and the rest is history.

She intimidated Serena?? Someone who is intimidated doesn't come back from 5-1 to win 6 straight games to win, and then go on to win a GS title.

Someone who is intimidated would have lost 6-1. I can think of 2 people who were intimidated by their opponents at the Wimbledon semifinals, but I will :tape:

Knizzle - Anyone who doesn't think Serena was intimidated going into the SF is naive (or something). She was wound up tight for that match, as evidenced by her poor first set. She was nervous because Kim had been playing so well and everyone was picking her to win the whole thing.

I think people trumpet Serena's comeback in that match a bit much. Yes she began to play better and hung around, but Kim clearly got tentative and choked that 3rd set away.

NOBODY was as intimidating a #1 as Steffi Graf. Magaret Court and Martina Navratilova are right up there at #2 and #3, but in singles, all the players feared playing her all the time. It's what made the Hingis French Open Final in 1999 so much fun to watch- she did her best for nearly 2 years to say she wasn't intimidated by Graf, and that she wanted to play her, but then we have that classic runner-up acceptance speech:

"You're always so tough, you know, the one you want to beat in the final here in this tournament..."

Kim's got a long way to go to reach the heights of her personal hero: Stefanie Marie Graf. :worship:
I want to rebut that! I think Serena was as intimidating of a no.1 as Graf was! Heck she was even intimidating without being no.1!

Players knew that against either sister the match wasn´t in their hands and that´s what makes them intimidating.

Serena was tight that whole tournament. Are we forgetting the first round vs. Loit?? Did Loit intimidate her?? Serena was going for the "Serena Slam" so of course she was nervous and tight, but when it came down to it, she took it to Clijsters and there was nothing Kim could do. Why did Serena even win the second set if she was so intimidated?? She didn't even play that well to win the second set also. Then the blisters...

Kim choked - yes Serena played better, but Kim choked. Anyone remember her two doubles faults to open the 5-4 game?? She had 4 double faults in the entire 3-set match, and 2 of them came at the start of a game where she served for the match. She choked.

Kim is well worthy of a #1
you don't win all those tourns without doing so

A Slam is just a matter of time for her
who said she wasn't in the posts before yours?

she just isn't intimidating. and to the comment of "give it time" you shouldn't need "time" what she has/is doing, she has been doing all year. the only thing she hasn't done, and needs to be "given time" is to win a slam.

time to see who she does as number 1 isn't the big factor. unlike when serena became number 1, her entire game became intimidating w/ how she plays.

kim hasn't done anything different besides cut back on errors, to make her game more intimidating. people know what to expect from her on court, and it isn't intimidating. people watch serena take out players lik Amelie on Clay 1-2 and Kim on hardcourts 4-2 respetcfully, and just have to be in aww. that is intimidating.

Why do you think she felt pressure?? Could it be because Serena lifted her game to unimaginable heights and won 3 games in a row??

SerenaSlam I agree, the phrase "it's only a matter of time until she wins a slam" really doesn't go along with a #1 player. Kim fans/anti-Williams fans want to make this thread into someone hating on Kim, but it's not that at all. Serena is intimidating, Venus is too even though she hasn't been #1 since last year. Kim may develop this trait eventually. As much as people don't want to admit, winning slams bring you "true" respect on the tour, look at Justine.

It's kinda like when Capriati plays Serena: she stays with her better than anyone else out there, including Venus sometimes, but all the while, she knows it's coming, in the back of her head there's this seed of doubt, waiting for it to happen, and then POW!!! like the lights in New York City, Capriati's game gets blown out of the water as Serena turns on the jets and all of a sudden the third set is over and people are left scratching their heads and saying "what just happened?" and "I thought she had a chance to beat her!"

okay, and by the number of responses to our posts, you know the people know what we are taking about.

there is "doubt" in players mindz when facing serena and even venus, that isn't there w/ kim. these players know they have "chances" againt Kim, but when it comes to venus and serena, especially serena, it seems they know no matter what, if it even goes to a thrid, serena is "probably" the winner. that is the "intimidating" factor sisters got.

Umm. . ..just like Serena had to remind Chris Fowler at the AO, I'm reminding you: Serena had just beaten Kim at the Hopman Cup not even a month before the AO. Kim was playing nicely, but you don't honestly think she is the calibre of an healthy Serena Williams do you?
