Seven months into the 2003 season and Kim Clijsters has reached the semifinal round or better of all 13 tournaments she has contested. Clijsters is the first player to have such an amazing run since Monica Seles in 1991. Seles reached the final of every tournament she competed in that year  . Even in their best years, all other dominant players (Graf, Hingis, Davenport, Capriati, V. Williams, and S. Williams) had at least one quarterfinal loss (or earlier).
Clijsters currently holds a 61-7 win-loss record for 2003 and has won her last eight matches. She won the Bank of the West title last week in Stanford defeating Jennifer Capriati in the final.
Clijsters is also a doubles finalist here in San Diego, with partner Ai Sugiyama. The team has won five titles this year, including Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
