No thread yet??? Maria is so resilient coming from a set and a break down beats Sabalenka. Next round won't be easier against Barty but at least she's securing seed in the US open at #31 in the live rankings.

Scary thing is Sakkari only has to defend a semis in MM Seoul and 3R in Melbourne until the clay season. She could go very far in the rankings.
I hope her level stays. Sometimes she goes through bad patches like the Asian swing last year. Truthfully she belongs to the top 20 and I love her attitude and especially her sportmanship.

Daaamn, kept an eye on this match through livescore and thought it was played at 7-6 4-1. Sakkari once again found her inner Spartan.

Sabalenka falling from the top 10 is long overdue. Still not happening though.

Saisai defeated Sakkari, Saisai defeated Sabalenka.
Then Sabalenka defeated Saisai, Sakkari today defeats Sabalenka.

These three are making a tournament by themselves? 😁
Clearly the work of Satan.

Sakkari is a tough little customer, but Sabalenka is really underperforming.

Like almost everyone on the entire freaking WTA.

What a loser tour.

Really—it’s in trouble.

If anyone cut through the PC unicorn-crap, they would see it.

There are exec/corporate figures in the WTA who are getting rich, but the tour is suffering from severe mismanagement and DIRE stupidity.

As well as hundreds of head-cases.

No one has looked into the ways that the new demands and equipment and physical stresses are seriously affecting the women’s game specifically because they ARE women, and they are NOT like the men.

Everyone is looking away from that.

Aryana letting all these opportunities slip through her fingers. She’s lost her way. Another typical case of climbing quickly towards the top but not being able to stay there.

Aryna announced her decision to lose this match during consecutive games in 2nd set. First when she lost 4-2 service game and right after that she had 0-40 on return with zero interest in trying to convert any of 4 break points. She had 1 more later after blowing 3 in a row.

the Spartan thing is kinda cringey. She's from Athens.Nevermind that the modern city of Sparta shares only the name of the ancient one but that's another story.

Oh that's a bit inconvenient then. But those Athenians were all for democracy, artistry and science. I mean, that's nice and all but not very helpful in a (tennis) battle. :p
