I expected Jie Zheng to push Nan-Nan a bit more.
Poor Jing-Qian, injured again.
Zi Yan is a very talented 16 year old, I expect her to be good in the years to come.
Na Li is thrashing everybody so far.

The Pea, yes Shuai and Ting did play here but they lost in the Round of 16.

Zi Yan d. Ting Li 2-6 7-6 7-6
Jing-Jing Liu d. Shuai Peng 6-5 ret'd
Wally, I don't think they receive prizemoney here. I think they receive only medals. It's kinda of like the National games and they play for their own Province. Nothing as lucrative as the Japanese championships, where they play for their sponsor.

The Chinese players are encourage to play these sorts of events rather than tour events. Playing for their home country brings them honour I guess.

Hi danker,
I am back in a board now (and also back from Pattaya where I was on holidays during the tourney. I posted some messages already, even if a bit late).
I discussed with Ka Po during the tourney and she told me she would be at this national event.
Do you know at which stage she lost?

Hi Steve,
Nice to see you posting again.

Ka-Po lost in the 2nd rd to Jing-Qian Yi 0-6 3-6.

I didn't see her in the commitments for any of the Australian events, but I did see her name in the one coming up in Thailand.

I'm looking forward to your reports regarding Pattaya.

Congratulations to Li Na, but also to Liu Nan Nan who has had a good ITF season 2001.

I hope both of them will have good results in 2002, and that Li Na will have as good results in ITF / WTA tourneys than she had at the Universiade and the National Championships.
