Eh, Jasmine had the, I guess, fuller season with Rome W and Cinci F but Elena would potentially make the YEC a lot more interesting as opposed to a probably walking bye. If the battle is between those two and no one else cough*Naomi*cough manages some crazy runs in what’s left of the season I much prefer Elena to qualify.

Elena right off the bat has Siegemund whom no seed wants to meet early on, then a red hot young Jovic then either Alexandrova or Babs and likely Gauff in the QF.

Jas will have Anisimova or Muchova in her QF. Will be interesting for both

Swiatek- Osaka (I suspect she’ll have a tough match with Pegula)

Andreeva- Mboko (Mirra could lose to Joint in the previous round or to her dubs partner Shnaider)

Paolini- Anisimova (Amanda could lose to crafty Muchova, and Pao Pao to Svitolina)

Krejcikova-Gauff (interesting section with Rybakina and also Alexandrova)

Tauson has just walloped Iga in Montreal, Mirra has walloped Iga TWICE this year...

Yea, I don't think Iga got a great draw. Especially with Aryna and Madison out, Osaka, Pegula, Anna,Navarro, Raducanu, all in her quarter. Yes she should be able to get thru anyway, though I would love to see Naomi get thru the top half.
I know its the luck of the draw but when the #1 and #5 seeds have to face each other in the quarters it seems a little harsh.
Why isn't Madison playing? This is a good tournament for her.
Overall a great draw! Hope Belinda/Ostapenko can get into some form and get to play (and slay) Coco, would love to see either of them get thru the bottom half. Sorry Coco.
However, It would be a very Coco thing to do to comeback and win this tournament out of nowhere.

Good points. Emma was going to face a top 8 in R3 and, aside from Qinwen in questionable health, Jess is probably the best opponent she could ask for. Naomi had a good summer but it's always a little bit encouraging to play someone whom you have beaten.
