Davay! Davay! Udachi Russia! Udachi Russia! Go Russia!

P.S. - What is the deal with Dinara?

P.P.S. - I am very dissapointed in Maria Sharapova's schedule. No Eddie Herr. And no Prince Cup. These are two tournaments where she could have conteded for the title. Now, in a much deeper Orange Bowl field, Masha could have a tough first round opponent, and get bounced out. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I'm pretty sure she's injured as she had also entered and withdrawn from Mallorca 3/4.

Heard nothing official but I think thats the case.

Maria i think didn't play Prince Cup cos its not being sanctioned by the USTA , so no ranking points.

Anyway this Connolly Cup is much more important for us than any individual title.

Why did they let Anna play singles instead od Svetlana? They thought not much of a match against Uzbekistan?

Rest Svetlana and also to give Anna a match.

Only the match v Hungary will matter , so if we beat them we will go thru

We're in the final !!!!!!!!!!!

Plus the boys team made final too
Well done girls
sweet revenge for Sveta and Vera

both series tied 1-1 now.
The Russian girls advanced to their fifth ITF Connolly Continental Cup final in 7 years with a 2-0 sweep of top seeded Czech Republic in a match that featured four of the top 11 players in the world. In the opening rubber of the tie, No. 10-ranked Vera Zvonareva defeated No. 11 Barbora Strycova 62 76 (5). No. 3 Svetlana Kuznetsova pulled closer to top-ranked Eva Birnerova with a 62 62 triumph that not only sealed the victory for her country but also avenged the defeat she suffered to Birnerova at the Coca Cola Super Japan. Svetlana commented after her match " I am very happy, I still don't realise that I won so easily. I played very well, I kept my concentration during the whole match, I did everything that I wanted to do. I just didn't give her a chance of her to play. I don't mind who we play in the final, I just want to play how I played today".

Croatia reached their first ITF Connolly Continental Cup final by defeating three-time champion Argentina, 2-0, in the other semi-final. Both singles matches went to a decisive third set as Karolina Sprem edged Maria Jose Argeri, 63 36 86 and Matea Mezak defeated Gisela Dulko 57 64 64. Matea commented "We are surprised, we didn't expect to be in the final and now we are happy, we still can't believe it. Tomorrow we are going to rent a limousine to bring us to the courts in the morning, it is a promise from our coach. Now we are wondering if we win what is the next surprise from our coach. I have played against Svetlana twice and we are 1-1, Karolina has played Zvonareva only once and beaten her. We want to thank our coach, he a legend!".
I meant Strycova and Birnerova had played Zvonareva and Kuznetsova once before and they won.

so this makes it all the better as its a team comp.
