What kinda crap is this I'm hearing?

Since when do players decide when they are gonna play?......in that case Venus should ask to play all her matches in one day,on saturday and maybe then everybody will be happy....this Mcguire is one major fuck-up!!!...why do Lindsay have to play two days in a row?...I hope Serena wins this thing and whip Jen into a state of frenzy...nightmares and cold sweats into 2002....and make jen's tiny racket rattle with fear everytime Serena steps onto the courts or end up in her side of the draw......May

In the fun of Howard Stern

Burt Mcguire ---may his head be filled with more than just air.

Jennifer cap--may she wet her bed everytime she thinks of facing Serena,Lindsay,Monica, and Venus

Anna Kournikova---may someone inform her that being called MISS is not the "title" we are talking about.......

John Mcenroe....may he burn in hell at the stake of Navratilova and Evert and everytime he shouts ouch!!...may he receive a venus serve in the mouth!!!...lol

Burt Mcguire---is he still there?

Monica Seles---may she beat Jencap everytime next year....may Monica become number one for three- four months next year...

Steffi Graf----if she had a baby in Jan./2 in June/and one in Sept. would that make them her own little grand slams?

Lindsay----Will someone please tell her she is not the spokesperson for the WTA...that's Jen and Dementieva's job.

Martina------where is she?......I guess she took Richard Williams up on his offer to get a new pair of feet...she was spotted in Compton.

The wta should do away with these players who haven't made it pass the semis of a grand slam in at least four years and 16 tries....You Gotta GO!!! (just kidding!!...love my Chanda)

I am also a little taken aback by the reports that Jen's match was postponed a day because she isn't feeling well. I have never heard of this happening before. Have you?

Strategically, I am surprised Sandrine agreed to it.

I'm taken back by it too..at the USopen Clijsters had an injury and couldn't gwt anytime off.

Last year wasn't Lindsay injured and that is why she lost in the first round?...c'mon now......

why treat others different?..Jen should not have played if she was sick.....if Venus stayed home then why can't Jen?

Firstly, Kim was suffering an injury at USO but did Kim ask for the match to be delayed? And even if she did, you're talking about a much bigger draw there. It's not a case of just switching a couple of matches around.

Personally I can't see that Jen is even gonna be feeling that great tomorrow, if the virus was so bad that she couldn't play today.

But I guess Sanex and the WTA want there money's worth and who can blame them. And if it is OK with Testud, where's the problem?

I would love to see Venus or Serena ask for a delay for a sore throat. Venus coughed her way to the title at the U.S. Open. Hell her dam throat does not run or hit the ball. I don't believe it.

1) A virus is a bit different from a 'sore throat'.

2) Did they ask for their matche(es) to be delayed??

If you don't ask, you don't get (allegedly).

I've heard of this happening before. I think once someone asked to play on day just because they wanted to. I am completely against this. If a player is hurt and has to miss a tournament, they are subject to fines and examinations by appointed doctors (Hewitt a few weeks ago and Venus for the Chase). They certainly couldn't ask to postpone an entire tournament just for them. So why should anyone be able to have their match moved because they are feeling under the weather (flu, virus, cough, bronchitis...makes no difference to me)? And I don't really care if the player's opponent agrees or not. Part of the game is being prepared to play whenever the schedule tells you to. If you can't do that, maybe you don't deserve to win anyway. This really irks me that they let her do this. And the worst theory is, that it's intended to give her the best chance to keep #1. Martina didn't get to keep #1 when she had surgery. She couldn't put of the surgery and couldn't ask to postpone the rest of the season until she could. Why should Jennifer upset the whole balance of the Chase? And they complain about Venus! At least Venus shook up the tournament BEFORE it got started. But then again, maybe she's just making sure she's got an excuse if she happens to lose.

this is seriously so lame. nothing against anna in anyway because shes by far near hte top of my list, but she, the player who you think would most likely be allowed to do this, has never done it and she practically runs the wta from what i hear! she wants anight match she gets one! but postponing a match, its called luck of hte draw. however, if everyone agreed to it....but still, this is like players who call trainers to change the momentum of the match and everything
i jsut remember when serena ran to the bathroom at wimbledon this year, that was great!!! i laughed a lot!!!

but anyways, yeah, booooooo

BOOOO!!!!!!!

she just keeps digging herself into deeper crap.

I'm pretty sure that matches have been moved around before for other players.

The big difference between this and the slams is that the draw is so much smaller at the Chase that it makes it much easier to reschedule.

Of course tournament officials are always going to have a slight bias towards the top players which worked in Jen's favour this time, but such is life!

Anjelica de la Courtiere makes a nice point: Kudos to Sandrine for given Jennifer some time to get over whatever's ailing her. So gracious. I'm sure lots of other players would concede to this too...but I can probably name a few that wouldn't. (I won't, of course.)

Anyway, I'm not bothered by it. Apparently, the other players weren't either. Then again, I didn't buy a ticket...and I wasn't eagerly anticipating anything to happen at 'T' time. But these things do happen.

Well, top players are constantly able to choose their starting date in a tournament. For the women, if they have won the week before we often dont see them play their first match until the Thursday of a tournament. And I can think of many instances where matches have been postponed a day when a top player ahs requested it - but only if it is their first match, or if they have been traveling and feel they need more time to prepare.
i think the strange decision has more to do with trying to preserve interest in this tournament in its first year in Munich, there seems to have been so much negative press, and fairly small crowds (until today at least) - or at least they look small in a stadium so big - that given the choice of capriati withdrawing or facing a bad loss when the wta can hype the coming battle in the later stages for #1 - the bucks will probably win over the sport in the end.
